👋🏻😀 Who are we?
We are a friendly, welcoming group between 20 and 50 years old who love a good coffee/tea/hot drink of your choice, good chat, do things together - from trying great independent cafes to visiting local events and exploring Glasgow and beyond - and make new friends along the way. Perfect for anyone who is new in town or a longtime locals who want to make new friends and get out more.

• 👍🏻 Our meetups are smaller sized than other groups: easier to make a connection and in turn, better chance of making new friends.
• 👍🏻 Our meetups are laid back, casual and informal - no awkward icebreakers, contrived formats or similar BS.
• 👍🏻 You help support local businesses - we prioritise using independent cafes and coffee shops.
• 👍🏻 We don't just visit cafes. We go for relaxed walks, attend local events, explore Glasgow and beyond, visit the cinema and more. Sometimes we even co-host meetups with other groups.
• 👍🏻 Regular meetups = we aim to meet twice a month (sometimes more depending on what is going on).
• 👍🏻 Our meetups are free - why pay to make new friends when friendships are priceless? 😉

😊I'm interested! How do I join?

• ❕Great! Click request to join and answer our questions so we can understand what your expectations are!
• ❕We need to see your face in your profile photo (sorry no avatars, AI influenced photos or any photo that doesn't show your face) otherwise your request will be rejected. This keeps our community safe and helps us recognise you in your first meetup with us.
• ❕This group is primarily for those living in and around Glasgow. If you are from further afield you are welcome to join but we expect you to be able to travel to our meetups without major difficulty.
• ❕Your request to join can be accepted or rejected entirely at the discretion of the group organiser(s).

❗Coffee Connections group rules - please read them, you agree to these rules by being a member.❗

To keep this group fair and enjoyable for everyone, as a Coffee Connections member we expect you to:

• ✅Treat others with respect. If your conduct is malicious/deceptive/disrespectful/unacceptable/consistently makes other members uncomfortable, you could be removed and/or banned by the group organiser(s).
• ✅ Communicate clearly and honestly with the event host/group organiser(s), especially if you're unable to attend our events or if anything that might affect your membership with us.
• ✅ Read the meetup description and rules before RSVPing - your RSVP will be seen as acknowledgement of having read, understood and agreed to the rules set in the meetup description.
• ✅ Ensure your notifications are set correctly so you don't miss out on our meetups and other important updates! Please visit the Meetup support page if you need further assistance.
• ✅ Change your RSVP in plenty of time, according to the meetup rules. It's courteous to fellow group members and also helps the organisers with planning and gauging potential attendance.
• ✅ If you need to cancel on the day due to an unforeseen reason (e.g. illness, childcare, family emergency, etc.) send a courtesy DM to the meetup host ASAP
• ✅ Attend at least one meetup in a 12 month period if you wish to remain a member otherwise you can be removed from the group. This helps us focus on our active members.
• ✅ Be yourself and have fun! Probably the most important rule here. 😉

❗Coffee Connections group rules: no show rule❗

• ❗Our no show rule ensures everyone gets a fair chance to attend our meetups, especially if they are in high demand.
• ❗No showing is also disrespectful to fellow group members and organiser(s) who make a considerable time and financial investment in hosting meetups during their free time.
• ❗You are a no show if:
• ❌ You do not change your RSVP to not going AND don't attend the meetup
  ❌ You change your RSVP on the day of the meetup WITHOUT the courtesy on the day cancellation DM
  ❌Your reason for cancelling on the day is deemed foreseeable, e.g. forgot about the meetup, choosing other pre-arranged plans instead or any other foreseeable reason.
• ❗A no show lasts for 12 months - once the 12 month period expires, it is no longer included in your no show count.
• ❗3 no shows within a 12 month period? You can be permanently removed from Coffee Connections by the group organiser(s).
• ❕Life gets in the way, we get that! Try to avoid being a no show by changing your RSVP anytime up until the day before or DM the meetup host on the day. We appreciate courteous and clear communication, not flaking and ghosting.
