Summer Solstice Sunrise Hike at Mt Falcon - Sunday, June 20,[masked]:00am
Two options: Strenuous or Easy
Option A: Strenuous - From Mt Falcon East Parking - No Dogs
Meet at the Mt Falcon East Access Parking Lot at 4:00 AM and step out on the trail promptly at 4:15 AM. So, we should reach the top for the sunrise by 5:30. You will need a headlamp since we will be starting in the dark. It is a steep 2.5 mile hike on the Castle Trail to Walkers Dream Trail where we will have a spectacular view of the sunrise. This is a moderately strenuous and steep hike with 2000' gain over 2.5 miles. You will need good hiking shoes/boots and it will be pretty cold in the morning and warm up quickly. No Dogs.
Option B: Easy - From Mt Falcon West Parking - Easy - Dog Friendly
Meet at the Mt Falcon West Parking Lot (map) at 4:45 AM and step out on the trail promptly at 5:00 AM. This is a gentle 1.3 mile stroll with minimal vertical gain on the Castle Trail to Walkers Dream Trail where we will have a spectacular view of the sunrise. Dog Friendly.
WHAT TO BRING - Headlamp - We will start in the dark - 1 to 1.5 Liters of water - Warm layers to start that you can peel off as it gets warmer. - Hat, Sun Glasses, Sun Screen, Lip Balm, Bug Repellent - Sturdy Hiking Shoes or Boots, Hiking Poles (if needed) - An Awesome Attitude and a Passion to Explore :D
APRÈS HIKE We will enjoy our Après Hike with Mimosas, Bloody Marys and breakfast at Red Rocks Grill in Morrison.
We will cancel in the event of rain. The trails will be muddy and the sunrise will be blocked by clouds.
