 HI everyone,

I am behind in sending out my annual new year's email for this meetup and hope a week into the year doesn't disqualify my intention to wish everyone a happy 2014.

This meetup has evolved into a  community of almost 800 members with ages spanning newborns to 89 years young.   We are a small but impactful community and even an economic force! (we can organize a vegan restaurant outing and get over 50 people to show up on a few days notice AND get the restaurant to add the special vegan meals to their permanent menu and even offer ALL vegan buffets!)  Veganism is getting more and more understood and accepted into mainstream culture in the US, and other parts of the world. The media is stating that 2014 will be the "mainstreaming of Vegan".  But we still have sooooo far to go before our animal friends are liberated from human oppression. Meat consumption has been on the decline (12% over the last year according to some reports), but on the other hand we are still brutalizing and slaughtering over 60 BILLION animals per year. That is B for billion.
My goal for this meetup in 2014 is to continue to do at least one potluck gathering (with speakers/presenters)  and one restaurant outing a month in the year ahead. I would love to add in a video/discussion night once per month, as well. Please let me know if you can host a month for a video screening in your homes or if you have a video projector and video player we can use in my clubhouse.

As well, "Vegan shopping tours" and "Ask a Vegan" outings will continue as requested. And cooking/food preparation classes are in the works to do at least once every other month. This seems to be something people  really want but without a space we are limited in what can be offered. Let me know if you are interested in teaching or help to organize or have a location we can use for the class.

What else do you want this meetup to provide for twentyfourteen?

As i have said many times I have met some of the most wonderful friends through this meetup. If you are a member and have not yet joined us at an event, I hope you will make it a 2014 goal to do so.

Lastly, special gratitude goes to all the meetup members that are always so helpful in so many ways: Michelle (newcomer extraordinaire), Peg, Kate, Keith, Greg, Yvonne, Carol, John, Travis, Jessie, Lori, Dave, Andre, Adena, Kate,Ted, Andie, Jim, Brenda, Lauren, Linda,Joe, Carl, Laura, Tim,  Rick, Kira, Phil, Roger, Nancy, Steve, Janie,  and many more that are too many to name. Without your help/ assistance/support the meetup wouldn't be around. This meetup will need more help than ever in 2014 as we continue to grow and add new events and outreach opportunities. Come be part of a wonderful community of friends and animal/planet loving folks. And be sure to join our partner group in Denver with the Denver Vegans at .... (Often there are carpools to their events from Boulder.)

My best wishes to everyone in this boulder and beyond vegan community. May 2014 be your, and the animals, best year, yet.
peace and peas on all our plates,

ps- I am braking my two year ritual of coming up with a Top Ten List because I just can't get it together to do before this year ends (at time of sending the year has ended.;-) So I am including last year's  Top Ten lists and hope that isn't too .;) Less pressure and there are a lot of new folks that may have not seen it and all the seed planting suggestions are as  relevant as ever.
Lisa's first Top Ten list
