About us
Welcome to the Columbus Movie Group!
If you enjoy movies, this is the group for you! We meet several times per month and try to hit 'em all: blockbusters, independent, international, art house favorites, award-watch films, under-the-radar gems, special events, and more!
The best part about seeing movies is sharing the experience with others. So, we’ll often combine some kind of optional dinner/drinks/get-together to go along with the movie.
We'll try to post events a few weeks in advance to help you plan, but because of the nature of the business, sometimes movies will change theaters or just disappear altogether. We’ll set up the event with estimated showtimes based on the best info available at the time, but understand that show times or even venues may change. Exact details (showtimes, location, meeting plan, etc.) will always be confirmed as soon as we get the info from the theater (a few weeks to a few days before the show), so be sure to check the meet-up page or your e-mail before you go.
Also, please keep in mind that events listed in the "Discussions" page are not official meetup events and no organizer will be present. I recommend attending only official events where an Organizer will be present. If you do attend movie showings set up by members in the Discussions page or elsewhere, please use caution and only attend if you personally know the individual.
Most importantly, to help keep the group welcoming, safe and fun for all, please remember the following:
1. Be courteous, Kind and Respectful.
2. No Racism, Bigotry, Harassment or Bullying.
3. No Political Posts, Trolling, Rude or Insulting Language.
4. Help Make Sure Everyone Feels Safe. No unsolicited e-mails, messages, greetings or unwelcome contact with members (in person, via phone, or through Meetup or other social media apps). Please avoid hitting on members at events, or creepy / overbearing / weird conduct.
5. No Self Promotion, Soliciting, Advertising or Spam.

Must See Thursday: I LOVE BOOSTERS at the Drexel + GRAETER'S!
Drexel Theatres, 545 South Drexel Avenue, Columbus, OH, USJoin us as we get together to see the top-reviewed comedy-drama, I LOVE BOOSTERS! The film comes from writer/director Boots Riley and follows a group of shoplifters who take aim at a cutthroat fashion maven. Here are details, trailers and our plan for this event:
DESCRIPTION: The film follows a group of shoplifters who take aim at a cutthroat fashion maven. It is written/directed by Boots Riley (Sorry to Bother You) and stars Keke Palmer, Naomi Ackie, Taylour Paige, Poppy Liu, Eiza González, LaKeith Stanfield, Will Poulter, Don Cheadle, and Demi Moore.
BUZZ AND ACCLAIM: I Love Boosters was the opening film at this year’s SXSW Festival and premiered to rave reviews! It is currently earning a tremendous 97% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes where critics call it, “an unexpected celebration of friendship, community, and solidarity.” Others call the film “an exercise in radical empathy,” a “masterful” and “optimistic” film designed to “provoke discussion” while making the audience laugh.

SUMMER OF ICE CREAM: GRAETER’S! Established way back in 1870 in Cincinnati, this historic, family-owned brand is famous for their delicious small batch ice cream and any chocolate chunk flavors! They are currently the only commercial ice cream maker using the French Pot method that they’ve been using since they first opened! Plus, those chocolate chunks, oh my goodness! Vegan options are available.
PLAN: We’ll plan for a 7pm-ish showing and will meet in the lobby area about 20 minutes before the show. Advance ticket purchase not required for this theater but Showtime and complete details will be confirmed/announced as the date gets closer.
