BUZZ & ACCLAIM: While probably not a player the Acting, Directing, Picture, categories, this will likely be a major player in the technical categories (production design, cinematography, hair and makeup, costume design, etc.). Critics say, “Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein is a “breathtaking” and “exhilarating” film as the writer-director “makes something almost new, and definitely rich and strange, out of a story we all thought we knew well.” The film is earning an 80% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which says: “Finding the humanity in one of cinema's most iconic monsters, Guillermo Del Toro's Frankenstein is a lavish epic that gets its most invigorating volts from Jacob Elordi's standout performance.”
