Dubai Meetup 23: Simple Investing for Expats - the Bogleheads' Approach - by Dorota Aguilar

The Bogleheads follow a small number of simple investment principles that have been shown over time to produce risk-adjusted returns far greater than those achieved by the average investor. Many of these ideas are distilled from Nobel prize-winning financial economics research on topics like Modern Portfolio Theory and the Capital Asset Pricing Model. But they are very easy to understand and to implement, and they work. In fact, the basis of all of these principles is the idea that successful investing is not a complicated process, and can be accomplished by anyone with a small amount of effort.

This philosophy is the foundation for anyone looking to take control of his finances by investing in the does market using a simple and effective approach. Once you have learned the principles and started investing, it requires very little time and effort to maintain.

In this session, Dorota will review the Bogleheads Investing Principles and explain how we translate the US centric approach into a Investing strategy that works for most expats.

The Speaker:

Dorota is a project manager in the construction sector. She discovered the Bogleheads Investment Philosophy more than 3 years ago, and after learning the basics and understanding how to apply them as an expat she started investing in the stock market on her own. Dorota is not a financial professional but she has helped many friends understand how to invest using this simple and powerful method. Today she is a member of the board of Common Sense Personal Finance and Investing, the UAE Bogleheads Chapter. Parking and access to the venue:

- There is free parking round the back of the university (near the Holiday Inn express at the start of the roundabout). All you have to do is press the button at the gate to the underground parking and it will open. Then proceed to basement 2.

- Once parked, go to the lift and press the ground floor button.- The venue is the multipurpose room in front of the reception.
