The Congressional Black Caucus 55th Annual Legislative Conference (ALC) will be held this year from Wednesday September 16th, 2026 to Sunday September 20th, 2026 (see list below for links to conference site and CBC Week associated evening mixers/events). The conference includes opportunities to attend daytime panels and workshops at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington DC and will focus on addressing issues in healthcare, education, economic empowerment, and social justice. There will be chances to network, collaborate, and partner with other leading advocates, professionals, policy makers, creatives/influencers, and change makers to foster greater progression in the black community. Various exhibits and vendor tables on site.

Let's meet again for another Last Saturday of the Month CoffeeRun at Union Market in NE DC. Topics include but are not limited to personal development, accountability, partnerships, business, relationships, holistic health, current stressors, conflict resolution, community service projects, and team building with those who share similar values (readers feel free to bring books; several indoor/outdoor restaurants, bars, lounges, stores, and coffee shops in the market area). Meeting open to all backgrounds and ethnicities.

Also, for those interested, District Running Collective (DRC) meets at this location (Union Market curbside) nearly every Wednesday evening (at 6:30pm) and Saturday mornings (at 7:00am for 6 to 10mile runners; 8:00am for 3 mile runners; three miles takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes depending on fitness level). Updates can be sent regarding any location changes/run rescheduling. Good opportunity for novice or more experienced runners to jumpstart their holistic health journey (e.g., improved sleep, meal planning, exercise, mental resilience) with others who share similar personal development goals (see DRC information link below). As of August 2026, free parking up to the first 3 hours at Union Market.

Let's meet again for another end of the month Melanated Investors Book Club Dinner at the Wharf DC Waterfront. Last year, several individuals participated in the virtual 12 month review of Rashad Bilal and Troy Millings'--financial literacy experts, master investors, and founders of the Earn Your Leisure PodCast debut book 'You Deserve to Be Rich' (released January 14th, 2025; see link below). Was able to facilitate last year's 12 month (last Sunday of the month--4:00pm to 5:00pm) virtual discussion. Prior to that, Jason and Cassandra Lockhart coordinated monthly virtual discussions pre and post pandemic (2021/2022 to 2024) before planning their wedding in 2025.

For those interested in in-person book discussions (informal) to include various topics related to leadership, advocacy, mission driven entrepreneurship, economic empowerment, financial literacy, strategic partnerships (based on shared values and trust) and community service--feel free to RSVP.
All are welcome to attend (no need bring a book or have read any featured text). As usual, feel free to discuss other topics to include books/content you are currently reading that extend beyond entrepreneurship/financial literacy.
