What is Dallas Urbanists?
We are an advocacy group in Dallas, Texas composed of people who care about making our city a better place to live, work, and play for everybody. Our group aligns with the New Urbanism movement, and we are an instance of what Strong Towns calls a "Local Conversation", whose purpose is to connect nearby, like-minded advocates to put Strong Towns ideas into action where we live.

Brentwood/Trinity Heights Hyperlocal Conversation
Smittox Brewing, 930 E Clarendon Dr, Dallas, TX 75203, USA, Dallas, TX, USJoin us for our second hyperlocal conversation in the Brentwood/Trinity Heights neighborhood in Dallas! This conversation will be facilitated by Paul Carden, a board member of Halperin Park and a local developer focused on transit-oriented walkable development. This kickoff gathering is our opportunity to:
*Meet our neighbors and learn who are the key stakeholders in the community.
- Identify on a map the hot spots, points of interest, and popular "third places" in the neighborhood.
*Share success stories that give you hope and make you feel proud of this area you call home. - Share pain points that you'd like to see solved through better urban design and planning.
If you live/work in the neighborhood or are just curious to learn more about this special part of the city, then this gathering is for you! Please RSVP, share this event, and bring your friends and neighbors!
---Hyperlocal conversations are neighborhood-specific monthly gatherings where neighbors explore ways to improve walkability where we live. As of October 2026, we have conversations every month in seven Dallas neighborhoods, our latest being here in the area of Brentwood, Trinity Heights, 10th Street District, The Bottoms, Dallas Zoo, Halperin Park, East Docks, Cedar Oaks, Beckley Club Estates, Zoo Creek Park, and around four DART stations: 8th & Corinth, Dallas Zoo, Morrell, and Illinois.
These conversations are organized by Dallas Urbanists, whose mission is to make Dallas more walkable so that more people feel proud of the neighborhood they call home. Our vision is for our city to be useful, safe, comfortable, and interesting for all walks of life. We value:
🏠 housing that is affordable, abundant, and adaptive;
🚍 transportation that is safe, frequent, and reliable;
🏫 development that is mixed-use, incremental, and transit-oriented; and

Red Bird Hyperlocal Conversation

Tanya Brooks, Assistant Vice President for Capital Planning, of Dallas Area Rapid Transit will present the Red Bird Mobility Hub study and take questions from neighbors. If you ride through Red Bird, transfer here, or have opinions about how long it takes to get across southern Dallas, this is the meeting to be at.
In October, Bill Chinn, CEO of the Dallas Entrepreneur Center, talked with us about the state of entrepreneurship in southern Dallas. This month we stay on the neighborhood itself, starting with how people actually move through it.
South Oak Cliff residents are invited to come, learn, and weigh in on the future of their community. Leave a comment with your questions for Tanya and we will bring them into the conversation.
