Title: Distributed Training and Large Language Models (LLM)

Synopsis
In recent years, large language models have achieved unprecedented levels of performance in natural language processing (NLP) and computer vision tasks. However, training these models requires massive amounts of computational resources and can take weeks or even months to complete. Distributed training is a solution to scale up the training process by breaking down the workload and distributing it across multiple machines or nodes. We will dive into the practical aspects of distributed training and inference for large language models, together with real-life applications and use cases. By the end of this talk, attendees will have a better understanding of distributed training and inference for large language models.

Bio
Wei Yih is a Senior Applied Scientist at Amazon Web Services with Worldwide Specialist Organization (WWSO), where he works on the application of machine learning to help technical builders and organizations tackle complex business challenges at scale, with a focus on Natural Language Processing, Industrial Operation Optimization, and MLOps. He holds a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the National University of Singapore. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family.
