Synopsis:
Teaching with Trust: Guiding GenAI Use in the Classroom *– By Dr. Raymond Chan, Genue.ai*
As generative AI becomes an everyday tool for students, educators are increasingly concerned with how to guide its use critically and safely. At Genue, we’ve developed a classroom platform that sits between students, teachers, and LLMs—capturing how AI is used during class activities and assessments and enabling teachers to see each student’s unique learning journey.
Drawing on pilots in Singapore and Indonesia, we show how teachers can use GenAI interaction data—not just the final answers—to understand where students struggle, when they seek help, and how AI assists them. We also introduce tools for moderating AI responses, flagging sensitive prompts, and benchmarking LLM safety using Singapore’s digital governance frameworks.
Ratings for Bridge Players: Driven by Data and LLMs – By Ang Shen Ting
Bridge is a complex game of incomplete information and partnership dynamics, but its traditional system for recognizing player ability—masterpoints—is a legacy reward system rather than a true skill rating. In this talk, Shen Ting explores how modern statistical modelling and machine learning tools can bring clarity and fairness to competitive bridge through a custom-built rating system, only the second of its kind after England's National Grading Scheme.
The session covers the full pipeline: from parsing XML tournament data and updating a SQL database, to deploying a live frontend using TypeScript and Next.js. It also examines how large language models accelerate development, and reflects on the risks and rewards of “vibe coding.”
