About Alternatives to Suicide (Alt2Su) Meetings
Alt2Su groups, such as this one are held to the standards of Alt2Su group charter, as developed and maintained by the Wildflower Alliance. Alt2Su groups are peer-led, non-clinical, non-carceral (meaning outside of the legal and state systems) gatherings of people who have personal lived/living experience with the impact of suicide. Groups like this one offer folx the space to talk openly, honestly, and voluntarily with others who perosnally live, or have lived, with the impact of suicide.

Alt2Su groups are not spaces for observers, students, researchers, or clinicians attending in a professional capacity. Alt2Su groups exist for the sole purpose of giving those with lived/living experience with suicide a space to explore their experiences with other people who can relate and hold space for these parts of our shared humanity.

Alt2Su Values
In these spaces, we try to honor these core values:
• People are the experts on their own experiences.
• Suicidal thoughts can have meaning, context, and history.
• Honest conversation can reduce isolation and shame.
• Support works best when it is voluntary, mutual, and non-coercive.
• We do not assume illness.
• We do not assess people for involuntary intervention.
• We do not call police or emergency services on people simply because they talk about suicide.
• We respect confidentiality and the privacy of everyone who attends.
