Meetup: Animal Rising's Beagle Rescue Trials
2414 6th St, Berkeley, 2414 6th St, Berkeley, CA, USAt the Meetup we will hear from Nathan, an organizer with Animal Rising, about the group’s beagle rescues from MBR Acres and subsequent trials for saving dogs’ lives.

In 2022 activists with Animal Rising rescued 23 puppies from this awful facility. The 20 activists who saved those dogs’ lives had to go to trial for “burglary.” They were split in to five separate cases, four have concluded
Animal rising activists are in their fifth and final case right now.

Pigeon First Aid,
885 Market St, San Francisco, CA 94103-1921, United States, 885 Market St, San Francisco, CA, USPigeon First Aid & Companion Animal Care
Sunday, April 12th | 11am–2pm
Meet at the Powell Street BART Station, San FranciscoEver wanted to be a hero to pigeons and their animal neighbors—all in one afternoon? Join us for a hands-on day of compassion, learning, and real impact in the heart of SF.
San Francisco’s pigeons often suffer from painful injuries caused by string, hair, and other debris tightly wrapped around their toes. These tiny hazards can lead to serious infections and even amputations. Together, we’ll gently rescue injured pigeons, remove the harmful materials, provide basic first aid, and release them safely back to their flocks.
While we’re out on the streets, we’ll also be sharing food and toys for companion animals belonging to our unhoused neighbors—because care and kindness should extend to all animals, big and small.
No experience necessary! We’ll provide all the training and supplies you’ll need. Just bring:
- Compassion
- Comfortable shoes
- A willingness to help animals who are often overlooked
Arrive on time! We’ll begin promptly at 11am with a brief but essential safety and training briefing.
Meeting location: Powell Street BART Station
Questions? Contact Carla at carla@dxe.io

Come learn a unique skill, meet kindhearted people, and help make San Francisco a safer place for pigeons and companion animals alike.

Veganism Is Anti-Oppression & Solidarity Across Species with APEX Advocacy
2414 6th St, Berkeley, 2414 6th St, Berkeley, CA, USAt this week’s Meetup come hear from Yasmin Badshamiah (she/they) who is the Director of Communications at APEX Advocacy. Yasmin will be talking with us about veganism as a liberation practice, unlearning colonial habits in mainstream veganism, and what becomes possible when animal liberation is built in relationship with other liberation struggles. Yasmin Badshamiah will introduce APEX Advocacy’s approach to animal justice and invite folks to get closer to what we’re building at APEX. Q&A to follow.
More about the speaker: Yasmin is a NorCal-based writer, mother, long-time vegan, and strategist, Yasmin builds narrative power for total liberation. After working inside traditional animal rights communications, Yasmin stopped trading truth for palatability and defanged politics. At APEX, they shape language for animal justice that keeps us whole and moves people into solidarity with all beings. Yasmin's organizing spans mutual aid, Palestine advocacy, youth work, and cultural event production. They co-created a California Arts Council–funded queer youth poetry + spoken word program and served as a core facilitator for APEX’s 2025 Pre Animal Activist Week BIPOC convening.
