Virtual meetings for the foreseeable futureHow does Toastmasters work?
We are a club within Toastmasters International and follow a proven meeting structure to improve our skills.
In a typical meeting, we have 3 main sections:
- Prepared Speeches
- Table Topics (impromptu speaking for members and guests)
- Evaluations of prepared speeches
Typical roles in a meeting:
- Toastmaster: leads the meeting, introduces meeting theme, guests, and Prepared Speakers
- Prepared Speaker: every speaker is a role model and club members learn from their speeches
- Table Topics Master: helps meeting attendees develop their impromptu speaking skills
- General Evaluator: evaluates the entire meeting and introduces each of the Evaluators
- Evaluator: provides verbal and written feedback to meeting speakers
- Timer: times speeches and table topics impromptu speaking
- Ah Counter: notes any overused words and filler words
- Grammarian: helps club members improve their grammar and vocabulary

Want to know more about the history of our Techmasters club?
Techmasters was founded and chartered as a local club of Toastmasters International in December 1998.
The goal of the club is to improve the speaking and leadership skills of the members through self-paced practice and constructive evaluation. Techmasters was so named because most of the original members were affiliated with the Schwab Technology group.
Today, club members come from many different backgrounds, represent various industries, and have varying degrees of proficiency. We have native English speakers as well as non-native English speakers who are trying to improve their communication skills. Membership is not restricted and guests are always welcome.Stop by (virtually) and check out our club!

Welcome to Menlo Park Toastmasters!
We are a diverse group of individuals from Menlo Park and surrounding areas all working together to improve our public speaking skills.
We believe the best way to improve your public speaking is to get up in front of people and speak -- each meeting, everyone has an opportunity to speak in front of the entire club. Our meetings are relaxed and fun, but always educational. New members are paired with mentors to help develop their speaking skills.
Guests are always more than welcome to visit our club. Please contact president@menloparktm.org to find out more about the benefits of Toastmasters!
