Day Hike – Knott Grove
Join us in hiking through Knott Grove! This is a leashed dog hike. If you don’t have a dog, we’d still like you to join us! This is an out and back hike, therefore, you can choose your own distance. We’ll start our hike from Canyonside Community Park and pick up the trailhead in the southwest corner of the park and head south. Once we hit the paved road, Cara Way, we’ll explore a bit before turning around to head back. Meeting time: meet at the trailhead (photo attached) at 8:00am and hiking starts NLT 8:10am Distance: 4.75 miles RT Elevation gain: 285 ft Difficulty: easy Hiking time: 2-3 hrs with stops Facilities: bathrooms and drinking fountains at park Fees/permits: none More info/pics: http://hikingsdcounty.com/knott-grove/ Recommended: • day pack • hiking boots/trail runners • hat, sunscreen, and other sun protection • layers because it may be chilly to start but warm up later • water for you and your dog (if you’re bringing one) • snacks Directions: Coordinates for trailhead[masked], [masked]. From I-15 north take the Mercy Rd/Scripps Poway Pkwy exit, and turn left onto Mercy Road. Follow Mercy Road for approximately 1.4 miles, then turn right onto Black Mountain Road. After .2 miles, turn left onto Canyonside Park Driveway and drive 0.4 miles down to find parking and the trailhead. The trailhead is located in the southwest corner of the park. What we're about

This is a group for anyone interested in hiking, camping, stand up paddle boarding, and other adventures with your dog(s). Whether you have a dog or not, you're welcome to join this group. I'll indicate the difficulty level for each outing since some may range depending on mileage and elevation for the hike. Day hikes range from 1 to 20 miles, planned and some may be short notice.

Follow us @dogfriendlysocal too!

I practice leave no trace principles and carry the ten essentials (for more info, see Pages section on Meetup). You're responsible for yourself, your dog(s), gear, clothing, health, fitness, food, water, and your own safety.

To join this group:

PHOTO, please have a recognizable photo of your face on your profile. You are subject to removal from this group without a recognizable photo.

RSVP for events and if you're unable to attend an event for which you said "You're Going," please change it to "No - Not Attending," as soon as possible so the group doesn't wait for you. Also, if you have a history of signing up for our meetups but repeatedly do not show up or repeatedly cancel at the last minute when there is a waiting list, you are subject to removal from this group.

COURTESY, everyone is expected to exhibit courtesy and respect during our events. Do not expect others to supply equipment, food, necessities, or other items without prior arrangements. Expect to fairly compensate drivers in car pools.

Now the FUN stuff! A lot of the hikes we'll do will count towards one of the many challenges we have in SoCal (i.e. Coast to Crest Trail Challenge, 52 Hike Challenge, 5-Peak Mission Trails Challenge). But I'd like to add more activities than hiking so we'll have other adventures too!

Whether you're doing any challenge (steps, miles or hiking) or just want to get out and enjoy the outdoors, I hope you can join us! Looking forward to meeting all of you.
