A short monthly meeting where the board of Dev Edmonton Society talks about society business and how to support our awesome meetup community. This meeting is not like a tech meet up, it is the organization meet up behind the scenes of all the cool meet ups.
Anyone is welcome to attend, though as a warning these meetings are little dry :P We usually talk about things like allocating funds, making sure our code of conduct committee is supported, making sure that all the meet up groups have access to online tools and also in person recording equipment, etc.

In this high-level talk, Thiago will explore the several components that enable data & tech projects to succeed and why they should be considered core pillars, from the technical tools used by teams to how data is collected and leveraged. He will discuss how often-neglected processes play a vital role in the business and how ultimately people literacy affect the relationship between team members and stakeholders. Thiago will uncover challenges that slow down business growth and are often seen as “data problems” but, in reality, reflect the lack of harmony among these core components.
Speaker's Bio:
Thiago Valentin leads the Data Science Team at Go Auto and he is the Director of Innovation & Growth with the Edmonton Data Science Community. Thiago has had different roles from hardware development to software engineering to machine learning and data science. He has also worked in various industries, from EdTech, through IoT and FinTech to Automotive and the Food Industry.Thiago is passionate about people, processes and data - and everything in between. His favourite part of the job is to empower his team and his stakeholders to make data-driven decisions that create value for the company. As a natural problem solver, he is happiest at work when he's able to turn raw data into actionable insights. He believes that building a collaborative culture around his team is key to success. As a community builder, his goals are to build connections and create opportunities for people in the data space in Edmonton and Alberta.
