What we're about

This group is for individuals on the autism/Asperger's spectrum who are 18 years or older. Our primary focus is to create a fun and engaging environment for individuals on the autism spectrum. If you are looking to make friends and have fun, then this group is for you.

We meet weekly at Service Center for Independent Life and have various activities scheduled throughout the week such as Bowling and Dinner Nights. Our attendance is consistent with around 15 to 20 people showing up per meeting. RSVPs usually don't reflect the amount of people who show up at a meeting.

All individuals on the autism spectrum will benefit by joining this group. The group has existed for over 10 years and is ran by Arman Khodaei, who is also on the autism spectrum.

We look forward to meeting you at our next activity!

Autism Support Group

Services Center for Independent Life (SCIL)

Are you recently diagnosed with Autism, Asperger's or have an ASD or dealt with it for awhile, just now decided to find others like you and you now want help or support, then please attend; it is an open forum, and anything discussed will be confidential and kept private, unless it harms you or others.

Saturday Social

Services Center for Independent Life (SCIL)

Now is the time to become more social and what better way to do this, then by coming to the Saturday Social. This group is about having fun and making friends, connections, or etc, with those who happen to have ASD. Bring your friends ( or what have you) and get ready to have a great time. Some of the activities that we’ve done are located below— • Superhero Senior Home • 2 Truths and a Lie • Superheroes • Fictional Characters • Family Feud • Variations of Good, Bad, and Worse • Pretend Group Session (such as AA or OA meetings) • Improv Games And many more activities, which are subject to change, but overall, they are creative and cathartic. If you want to know what is going to happen at this social, then you will have to attend, and be ready for anything. Food and drinks are provided by generous donations from the attendees (Donation amount: whatever you can spare). No solicitation

Video Game and Board Game Club

Services Center for Independent Life (SCIL)

Monopoly, Cards Against Humanity ( just kidding, but if you are up for playing that game, and own a copy, we’ll make a plan to play it at the next off site outing), Super Smash Brothers, Pokémon, Dominion, or Scrabble; these are just a few of the games that we might play next; So, are you game? If so, then come join us once a month as some of us will play the PS4, PS3, or the Nintendo Wii and others might play the manual version with dice, cards, and fake dough. Or feel free to bring your own games (“video” or otherwise) and enjoy a socially fun day. Since we host at the SCIL, please bring systems and games, and if you have a spare t.v that you would like to bring and are able to bring, along with additional acessories, such as power sources and a.v. cables please do so; we will set it up.
