***Welcome to Community Mindfulness Meditation (GCNC Meditates)!***
**Where and when:** We meet at the **George Chuvalo Neighbourhood Centre** in the Junction Triangle in Toronto every **Monday from 7 pm to 8 pm**. Chairs, limited cushions, and yoga mats are provided (bring your own if you have a favourite)
**What and who:** weekly meditation sessions for and by neighbours and community members. No experience and no registration are needed and **attendance is free or by donation ($5 suggested, cash only in person)**. **How (structure):** We begin by settling in and grounding ourselves in the space, with an optional check-in to share how we are feeling, followed by a 25-minute guided meditation practice. After the period of formal practice, there is a period of optional sharing once again, where practitioners can share insights, reflections, challenges, questions, ponderings, and joys. We conclude our gathering with a dedication of the good generated from our practice to specific individuals or groups of individuals. We may also set an intention for the week ahead and share thatāagain, always optionally. We offer these practices in a space that is inclusive of all, while recognizing that mindfulness meditation is not a one-size-fits-all approach; we therefore encourage folks to follow their inner guidance whenever needed and to ask questions and for support or guidance whenever necessary. Both facilitators are trained in trauma-informed mindfulness instruction and keep that at heart in their guidance, recognizing that we all show up with different life experiences. **Spring is in the air, and with it comes the promise of new beginnings, fresh energy, and the joy of connection!** As the season of renewal unfolds, we invite you to step into the rhythm of community, dance, and celebration at Miss Bachata & Miss Salsa.
My objective has always been to create a different kind of social gatheringāone that is open, non-judgmental, and safe. A place where you can meet people just like you, where socializing and dancing come together to help build community and tear down the walls that separate us. Here, we make new friends, feel a sense of belonging, and enjoy the calmness that comes from knowing we are in a safe and welcoming space.
Many times, I have been asked, āWhy host an event on Monday night?ā Many people escape on the weekend and dread Mondays when they return to work. I believe that if you dance and socialize on a Monday, you infuse your week with joy and positive energy, giving your life balance and helping you face your challenges with enthusiasm and confidence.
Weāre also thrilled to announce that our trial of advanced Bachata lessons, which began last September, has been a resounding success! Building on this momentum, weāre excited to offer an enhanced schedule for 2026. Our dance evenings will now feature three hours of classes: one hour of beginner to intermediate Bachata, one hour of advanced Bachata, and one hour of beginner to intermediate Salsa. As always, the entrance fee remains $15 for a night of 2 lessons and social dancing. For those interested in the advanced Bachata lessons, there will be an additional $5 fee.

Over the past decade, organizing Latin dancing events in Mississauga has been a labor of love. Our mission has always been to foster a sense of community, proving that the connections we share are far stronger than the differences that divide us.
Loneliness is a growing concern, with over half of U.S. adults and many Canadians experiencing its effects. The COVID-19 pandemic has only heightened this issue. Harvard University's long-term study on happiness, which began in 1938, highlights the detrimental impact of loneliness on health. People with strong social connections experience slower mental and physical decline and greater overall happiness compared to those who are isolated.
Here are some key findings from the study:
šæ Close ties help delay mental and physical decline more than money, fame, social class, IQ, or genetics.
šæ Relationship satisfaction is a better predictor of aging well than cholesterol levels in middle age.
šæ A strong sense of community improves memory function.
šæ Loneliness can be as harmful to health as smoking or alcoholism.
And thereās hope! Strengthening our relationships and supporting community initiatives can combat loneliness and build healthier, happier lives. **This journey changed my life in ways I never expected.**
When I first started receiving this transmission in 2022, I didnāt fully understand what was happening. I didnāt have the language for it, I just felt something inside of me beginning to open, like a quiet awakening I couldnāt explain. It wasnāt something I needed to figure out or control. If anything, it invited me to soften, to let go, and to trust what my body already knew.
Over time, as the energy continued to move through me, things began to shift in a very natural way. Slowly and gently, emotions I had been holding onto started to rise and release. My body softened, and for the first time in a long time, my nervous system felt like it could truly exhale. I began to feel safer within myself, more grounded, more present in my everyday life.
My intuition became clearer, and life felt quieter, not in a way that felt empty, but in a way that felt steady and peaceful. I experienced a kind of inner calm that didnāt come from everything being perfect, but from feeling more connected to myself.
Thatās what this work supports. It doesnāt give you something new. It brings you back to whatās already within you, beneath the layers of stress, conditioning, and old patterns. Itās a remembering of who you are, and that remembering continues to deepen into trust, presence, and a more grounded sense of being.
This is why I feel called to share this work in our community. To create a space where you can slow down, breathe, and step out of the constant doing and thinking. A space where your body can begin to unwind and release what itās been holding, without force and without pressure.
In this session, youāre invited to gently let go of what youāve been carrying, reconnect with your bodyās natural intelligence, and come back to yourself in a deeper way. Youāre invited to remember something simple but powerful, that you are already whole, that you are deeply supported, and that you donāt need to become anything else.

We develop resilience and the mindset to use these powerful healing tools over and over again, all year round. This gathering is fully guided by Wim Hof instructor Steve Beattie.

The second gathering of Auravista Movement is an opportunity for a collective conversation about Auravistaās path, the projects currently taking shape, and the role each of us can play in building connection, awareness, hope, and meaningful action.
In this gathering, we will reflect on a central question: in todayās world, amid crises, distance, and collective exhaustion, what can we do as human beings, artists, parents, educators, social activists, or simply as concerned individuals?
Given the current situation in Iran and the Middle East, part of this gathering will focus on this specific point: how we can create spaces for dialogue, solidarity, awareness, and human-centered action in the face of exhaustion, indifference, and fragmentation.
We will also take a closer look at the projects and ideas that are already in motion within Auravista, and the possibilities for participation, collaboration, and future involvement.
This gathering is open to anyone interested in culture, art, peace, awareness, education, children, the future, and building meaningful human connections.

We are recruiting new group leaders for virtual men's groups! Our primary groups are outdoor movement groups, but we are launching virtual groups for the state of Ohio and beyond and the groups will move outside in the spring, creating room for men's groups, women's groups and coed groups all over the country.

### **What is an Outdoor Empowerment Group?**
Our Outdoor Movement & Community Empowerment Groups are simple, guided experiences designed to help people reconnect with nature, themselves, and others. We combine some form of movement (hike, walk, run, bike, yoga, workout) and meaningful conversation within a simple community circle to create a space where individuals can support each other while prioritizing mental and physical well-being.
Whether youāre seeking stress relief, personal growth, or community, our groups offer everyone a unique and welcoming environment.

* Has 5 extra hours per week to dedicate to a meaningful cause for at least one year. Yes, you can leave any organization at any time and we can also ask you to leave, but we are building with legacy in mind and we need people who can commit and be ALL IN on this mission to build with us.
* Is independently financially stable with the ability to volunteer with no expectation of pay. This is a deeply beautiful journey of service that all participants commit to at Speak Your Mind.
* An ability to manage groups with high emotional intelligence and desire for human connection.
* An ability to self-motivate and market/promote their group on Facebook and other social platforms.
* Nature informed therapy or clinical therapists/psychologists a plus.

Join us at Unity of Columbus for our Weekly Reiki Share, a peaceful and uplifting gathering for connection, healing, and growth. A Reiki Share is a time where Reiki practitioners and students come together to give and receive healing energy in a supportive and welcoming environment. These sessions will be moderated by Columbus Unity Reiki. Reiki is a hands-on energy healing method from Japan that first came to the United States in 1938. Since then, it has grown in popularity and is now widely practiced throughout the West.
All levels are welcome, and you do not need to be a practitioner at Unity of Columbus to attend.
