We will develop our philosophical thinking. Inspired by the Peripatetic School in Athens founded by Aristo where clases were taught walking outdoors, we will learn, debate, enjoy and investigate both philosophers and diverse themes from the philosophical perspective while walking through the beautiful parks and streets of Lisboa. I started this group to meet other philosophy enthusiasts. Looking forward to walk through philosophy together with everybody.

We will learn, debate, enjoy and investigate philosophers and diverse themes from the philosophical perspective. Each reunion is structured as a conversation among all attendees about that day s philosopher softly moderated by the organizer. The conversation will kick-off from the very brief suggested reading providing easy access to all attendees both to the philosopher and the conversation.

Let´s be greek and dive today on…

DETACHMENT, a spiritual practice deeply rooted in eastern philosophies as Buddhism and Taoïsm, that became present in western philosophy through Socrates and the Socratic schools, specially Stoïcism, where it became one of its central elements, called then EPOJÉ. The modern success of Meditation and its several expressions as YOGA or MINDFULNESS coincides with the increasing relevance of modern STOÏCISM, all of them deeply connected with the concept of Detachment as means for spiritual growth, healing, and therefore, as a way of life. Priorizing the control of yourself instead of the world seems to design a good path for spiritual growth but… does it also shape much less committed individuals, in a world still deeply in need of both changes and people engaged to make them happen ? Of course, the diversity of ways of “engagement” is precisely at the core of this debate, again as critical a thousand years ago as next Sunday... At the center of this unavoidable conversation lies the always complex challenge of the prize of happiness… a question pending to be re answered everyday of our lives…

    So...

Lets think (or not think) about Detachment...
