The PUBlic SPEAKING Group - Public Speaking with Authenticity (Reps Over Rules)
***The Fitzroy Tavern Edition***
**We will be upstairs in the private dining room 🙂**
**ALTERNATIVE PLATFORM FOR BOOKINGS:** **EVENTBRITE** **(link below)**
**Like a lot of people, we’ve had our own battles with public speaking.**
**That’s exactly why this group exists.**
**It’s for anyone who wants a place to start, people who want to keep practising, and those who just need a friendly audience to try things out.**
**We grow at our own pace and build confidence in a relaxed, safe and supportive space.**
**You’ll meet like-minded people, make new connections, and steadily get more comfortable speaking in front of others.**
**There’s no judgement here.**
**It’s just space for people to be themselves. We know there’s no single “right” way to speak in public.**
**Whether you’re prepping for presentations, interviews, a best man speech, handling social situations, or simply getting more comfortable saying what you think, you’re welcome to explore your own style and find what feels natural to you here.**
**PS**
**Free event.**
**Groups are kept small so everyone gets plenty of stage time. We factor in last-minute cancellations, and we usually have 10–15 people.**
**The pub kindly lets us use their space, so if you fancy it, feel free to grab a drink (or just a soft drink ) while you’re here. It’s a nice way to say thanks and helps us keep the space for future sessions.**

Gentle Public Speaking - Free drop-in workshop (Saturday 12-2pm)
Please note - Do not worry if the attendance looks low, this is also advertised on eventbrite , attendance is usually 15-20. Do make sure you book a space if you are coming to the event as we have a certain amount of tickets available.
Have you ever been to a public speaking class where they expect to go up and speak for 2 minutes with no prior experience ? I think this is too hard for many people and just overwhelms the nervous system.
This workshop is designed for people who want a gradual and easier approach.
We’ll start with some low-pressure warm-up games in pairs and small groups to help everyone relax and loosen up.
We’ll move into groups of four, where you’ll speak in front of three people and answer a couple of questions. After that, we’ll move into groups of six and do another round or two.
Finally, there will be an opportunity to speak in front of the whole group. But please don’t worry if that sounds intimidating—you will never be pushed or forced to do anything you’re not comfortable with. Even coming up and saying your name can be a victory!
You are under no pressure to do anything, there are no minimum durations in speeches, all exercises are voluntary and no one will ever be put on the spot
We'll be in studio 12, at the theatre deli which is 107 Leadenhall street, closest stations are bank and monument.
I hope to see you there, if youre still worried feel free to send me a message and hopefully I can put your mind at ease
Take care
James.

Public Speaking Practice Saturdays (FREE for first timers)
Come and get the chance to speak in a supportive and friendly environment. Public Speaking will boost your confidence and give you more power to speak and to be listened to in both your personal and professional life.
**What makes this public speaking session different from others you ask?**
There is a strong emphasis on self-expression, creativity, trial and error, and most importantly, speaking practice!
**What will you gain from this event?**
* Gain confidence by overcoming your fear of public speaking
* Learn to think on your feet with our Impromptu speaking format
* Get feedback and improve your public speaking with a real audience
* Tips and opportunities to practice: body language, voice, tone, pitch, uses of stories, use of pauses, humour, etc...
**Here's how it works:**
\*I may choose to change the format from time to time based on numbers, and to practice different aspects of public speaking in order to keep it challenging\*
You will put your name in a hat/bowl and when your name is chosen, you will be asked to perform.
You will speak for 2 minutes on a random topic given by the audience. This is called an impromptu speech.
We will do 2-3 rounds of speaking followed by a feedback session at the end of the workshop.
**Public Speaking suggestions:**
TIP: Give your impromptu speech the following 3 sections below.
1. Introduction ("Today, I'm going to talk about....")
2. Body ("Here is my personal experience....")
3. Conclusion ("So, my key message is ....")
Each speech is to be 2 minutes long. Audience size 10-15 people.
You're not obligated to speak, although I may strongly encourage you to do so.

Comedy Night + Open Mic (Bring Wine)
**Comedy Night + Open Mic + Freestyle**: Tristan Shae and friends return to entertain us and to warm the group up for our open mic session. February's Open Mic / Comedy Night was a smash hit and it's worth a second night.
We'll start with Tristan Shae and a couple of his friends. Tristan is an alternative comic from Columbus, Ohio. A counselor by day, Tristan explores how comedy can improve mental health by telling jokes and stories that muse on how absurd life can be from squeaky clean topics to not so clean ones. Tristan produces the variety show Cheaper Than Therapy, hosts the weekly Problem Child Alt Comedy Open Mic at The Attic, and can be found engaging in all sorts of silliness around the city from stand up shows at The Nest Theater, The Attic, or The Funny Bone, to improv and sketch shows with various groups at various venues such as The Hashtag Comedy Club.
**On Freestyle night** \- just bring a bottle to share\. There is NO formal wine tasting like on other weeks\. Door charge is $10 \(cash or Venmo only please\)\. We may have some left over wines to clear out\! Glasses are provided\. Take Care\. See you there\.
**Parking**: There are several public parking lots near the Alive614 hall. Please be careful to NOT park in private parking lots. They do tow. Check Google maps to scope out your space. Anyone who is early could easily find a parking space on the street nearby. I am told that the Chase parking lot is safe after hours.
**Glasses**: …will be provided. Please note that after the wine tasting, the EMPTY glasses need to be returned to the boxes at the service table. Please do not make me hunt down your empty glass. Please be gentle, our glasses are fragile. Uh, they are made of glass!
**Food**: You are welcome to bring a snack to share. It is not required. Most people do though. If no one brings anything, there will be nothing.
**Code of Conduct**: Though mostly understood, it’s still worth mentioning. We don’t have rules per se, but we highly discourage the following topics of discussion because they are likely to incite anti-social responses - Sex, Politics, Religion. Please don’t mistake this as an attempt to limit your free speech rights but rather a guide to a place and time for appropriate discussions.
**After the lights go out**: After the last sip of wine, when we clean up and turn the lights out, if you still haven’t had enough of us, it is typical for a group to get together and go to a local eatery for food and/or drinks or coffee. Please join us.
Again, We look forward to meeting new members and reuniting with old friends.
Sincerely, ***Paul Uttermohlen***,
**Red 1 Realty**

Prompt vs. Paintbrush
AI is changing how art is made. But when does it stop being your work and start being the machine’s?
This month we're going to be doing a panel with with digital image, music, and written word artists, talking about at what point, while using AI in the creation process, does the work become not the artist creation?
We encourage audience participation during this event that will be moderated by Chris Slee.
Whether you’re deep in the field or just getting curious, come connect with others building and exploring AI in Columbus.
