What we’re about
We are a friendly group focused on ethical living, community connection, and bringing out the best in people. We explore together what it means to live ethically as individuals, in relationships, and in the larger world. Ethical Culture was founded in 1876 as an alternative to traditional religion. The focus is on human lives and relationships, rather than theology and ritual. Our core belief is in the inherent worth and dignity of each individual. Moved by what we see in the surrounding community, we collaborate to deliver meals and supplies to the Grace Solutions shelter for unhoused individuals in San Jose. We are a listening, caring, mutually supportive, and fun-loving fellowship. Learn more at our website, and pick an event here on our Meetup page to give us a try. Welcome!

Can We Move Beyond Tribalism?
Neutra House, 181 Hillview Ave, Los Altos, CA, USJoin us for our January spotlight gathering featuring an interactive presentation by Ethical Culture Leader Curt Collier. Neuroscientists consistently point out that human beings are inherently “tribal.” Each of us belongs to groups that shape our identity, provide a sense of belonging, and offer mutual care and protection. Yet as the United States has become increasingly diverse, these same tribal instincts can sometimes limit our empathy for those outside our familiar circles. While this dynamic is cause for concern, emerging research suggests that our tendency toward tribalism can be redirected toward broader, prosocial ends. What drives our tribal instincts? How do they influence our behavior in social environments? And most importantly, how can we harness these tendencies not only to support our own groups, but to extend genuine care and solidarity to others?
Join us! And stay for our potluck lunch starting at 12:30. Bring something to share if you like.
