Please note: You will need to make an individual reservation for Pier 24 by going to this link Pier 24 Individual Reservations. (http://pier24.org/visit/index.php) Signing up on this page will not allow you access to the gallery. Please only RSVP here after you make an appointment for Tuesday, March 4th!! 10:00 AM and 3:15 PM slots are still open. Admission to the gallery is FREE, but you MUST have an appointment. PLEASE, any guests should be members of our Exploring Photography group.

Tucked away underneath the Bay Bridge, Pier 24 is one of San Francisco's best kept secrets if you are devoted to photography. Built in 1935, the Pilara Photographic Collection is now contained in the 28,000 sq. foot building. Spend two mesmerizing hours viewing collections from around the world, including images from Walker Evans, Dorothea Lange, Robert Frank, and Diane Arbus, to name just a few. Make your reservations EARLY, there are only 19 spots open for the 1:00 time slot. The use of cameras without flash is allowed, but NO tripods are allowed.

Consider taking BART into the city, or if you are coming from the Sacramento, take the Vallejo ferry to the Ferry Building. Click here for more information on directions and parking, (http://pier24.org/information/location.html) etc. This is a weekday getaway, since the gallery is not open on weekends. If time allows, we might want to visit another gallery, the San Francisco Camerawork Gallery on Market St.

I am planning on having lunch at the Market Bar in the front of the Ferry Building at 11:00 AM, so if you care to join me, please let me know.
