Portraiture Workshop reminder

Details

Hi Phellow Phun-loving Photographers;

Gold Rush is the Sacramento Chapter of PSA (Photographic Society of America) and meets quarterly with a morning program and afternoon shoot based on the morning program. Sounds like fun to me! We also have online photo programs throughout the year.

This is going to be good! The PSA Gold Rush Winter Workshop will be on Saturday, February 22nd, with an in-person Portraiture Workshop. We have two excellent speakers with different approaches: Laurie Gallant uses natural light, and David Robertson will feature studio-lighting. Not only do we have great speakers, but we have some photogenic models!
I suggest you put it on your calendar now! You can sign up now with the following link: https://tinyurl.com/portraiture2025

As usual, we’ll have a morning program, no-host lunch, and an afternoon shoot based on the morning program.
Details: Saturday, February 22nd from 8:30 to 4. Registration 8:30 to 9; Program 9-12 with a coffee/cookie break; Lunch 12-1 with pizza & drinks for $6 or so—bring your own lunch if you prefer; Portrait shoot 1-4.
Usual location at the Oakmont of East Sacramento retirement facility, 5301 F Street, in the Ballroom on the 3rd floor.
Guest pass $10, or you can join Gold Rush for the year for $15 at the
workshop. Visit psagoldrush.org for more information.

Bios:
Laurie Gallant picked up a camera at age 17, and was hooked! She was a professional portrait photographer in San Francisco, moved to Rocklin, and now is the principal instructor for the Sacramento Photography Group. She’ll be demonstrating posing techniques and styles using natural light. Photo above by Laurie Gallant.

David Robertson is a retired environmental lawyer who has always loved photography. He transitioned from landscape and cityscape to portrait photography after being inspired by the renowned portrait photographer Greg Gorman, who taught David how to employ light and shadow on the human figure. David currently has a portrait studio in Davis, and teaches studio lighting.
In the Workshop, David will explain and demonstrate studio lighting with an emphasis on portraiture, but with techniques that are equally useful for still-life photography. Strobe lights will be demonstrated as well as using various soft boxes to show how light sources can be modified to create desired effects.
