Meet Animal Tracks' Stacy Gunderson

Join us for a special online event featuring Stacy Gunderson, Executive Director and Founder of Animal Track Sanctuary—a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to rescuing animals in need, especially those impacted by the exotic pet trade.

Stacy knew she couldn't ignore the tragic plight of the exotic animals she had come to train, protect, and love in her role as an animal trainer for the movie industry. These hapless creatures, once they've completed their scenes, are cast out with no thought to their welfare. Caught between two worlds—too tame to be returned to nature, but too wild to live in domesticity—they end up trapped in cages for the rest of their lives, sometimes never seeing the light of day. So Stacy, even while mothering her own two small children, created Animal Tracks, where these animals live out their best lives. Doted on by loving volunteer handlers, and let out of their cages everyday, they not only know they're cared for, but help to educate the public about the illegal animal trade.

During this event, Stacy will share her inspiring journey, from her time growing up in Southern California and studying at Moorpark College’s Exotic Animal Training and Management Program, to her unique experiences training animals for movies and television. She’ll discuss the challenges and rewards of working with a wide range of animals—from cockroaches to elephants—and how her passion led her to take over and grow Animal Track Sanctuary in 2008.
