Upcoming events (4+)
See all- Frisco Star Party!!!Frisco Commons Park, Frisco, TX
Please note that this event is in partnership with the Texas Astronomical Society.
Join us at Frisco Commons Park for a night of star gazing. Check back here or visit/join our Facebook group for updates including cancellation for weather.
This event is free and family friendly.
Fall and winter nights can be cold. Consult the forecast and dress for about 10º below that because it can get very cold when you are just standing around on cold pavement. Good shoes, a hat, ear coverings, and layers are your best bet. You can always take off what's not needed.
There are public restrooms at this location.
If you have a telescope and would like to bring it out with you, the more the merrier. If you are wanting assistance in working with your telescope, our volunteers will do their best to help. However, depending on crowd size, this is not always possible. The warmer the weather, the more crowded the park.
BTW this is only a stargazing party - no food or drink required.
Click on the Google Map to get more information about the park’s location. You can also use your smart phone map app to get directions to Frisco Commons Park. Both Google Maps and Apple Maps have the park in their database. The volunteer telescope operators will be set up at the “compass rose” between the circle drive and the large pavilion to the north. Parking is to the right as you enter the park.
- Monthly Brunch Gathering/School Supply Drive (Optional)La Madeleine , Dallas, TX
Come join fellow freethinkers for fellowship, food, and fun conversation. The room is free, but they do expect us to order. From full plates to bakery and pastry treats there is something for everyone. Whether you're an FoF regular or new to the group, this is a wonderful opportunity to make new friends and build community. We hope to see you there!
***One of the pillars of FoF is doing community outreach. For August we will be collecting school supplies for Community Partners of Dallas to spread the love to children in need. Here is a LIST of their most needed supplies. You DO NOT have to participate in the outreach to come to brunch. Participation in 100% optional. The main drive will be the brunch, but we will be collecting supplies through Sunday, August 24. If you are unable to make it to the brunch, please contact Julie Weston here on Meetup or email her at julie.e.weston@gmail.com to arrange a pickup.
Thank you for your consideration and how much it will mean for the recipients!
