STEWARDSHIP SATURDAY; Help us care for the Appomattox River Trail in Petersburg
Details
Join us to clear out trash, tend the garden, and remove invasive plants at the Petersburg trailhead of the Appomattox River Trail! Meeting location is the trailhead parking lot: 527 University Blvd, Petersburg
Help us restore native plants and local wildlife along the trail! Join us Saturday the 18th of May. Volunteers will be removing invasive plants, weeding the garden beds, or picking up trash (your choice!), using hand tools such as loppers, trowels, and trash pickers. There will be an invasive plant removal training at the beginning of the event.
- No experience necessary. Training will be at the beginning of the event. A great opportunity to learn about your local native plants!
- Gloves and tools will be provided, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer.
- Wear long pants that cover your ankles and sturdy closed-toed shoes.
- Bring a water bottle to stay hydrated, and an optional snack. We may bring water and snacks, but we can't guarantee their availability for every event.
- This event may be canceled in case of storms or heavy rain.
- Parking is available at 527 University Blvd, Petersburg VA.
We will be working at the trailhead across the road (west) of the parking lot.
