Learn how top entrepreneurs and project managers use principles from lean software development, eXtreme Programming, and the broader agile software development movement.

Reinventing Local: A General Assembly Hackathon
Saturday, November 5th at 9:00 am to Sunday, November 6th at 6:00 pm.

On November 5th and 6th, teams of designers, engineers, and entrepreneurs from the local New York community will spend a weekend designing and developing hacks, apps, websites, and mashups that allow users to interact with their communities and small businesses to interact with their customers. Completed prototypes will then be demonstrated at an on-site event finale and posted online for public consideration.

Fundraising Pitch Coaching Workshop
Saturday, November 5th from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

Crafting an effective venture pitch is one of the most important yet challenging tasks for a startup CEO. In this intensive three-hour workshop, students will learn how to build a powerful venture pitch in a collaborative, hands-on environment. The session will be led by McAdory Lipscomb, veteran pitch coach and former operating partner at RRE Ventures. By the end of the session, each attendee should have a presentation that fits with their goals and pitch style.

Adobe Muse Workshop
Monday, November 7th from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Muse is a brand new software application from Adobe. It enables graphic designers to plan, design, and publish HTML websites without being restricted to templates, and without needing to learn to write code. iPhone App Development
Starts Tuesday, November 15th from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.

This course is a practical workshop in iPhone application development. It was designed to teach students the skills necessary to deliver polished, functional, usable applications for submission to the App Store. Learn from design technologist Ben Jackson, whose professional experience spans print, web and mobile apps. Ben has worked as a software engineer on the New York Times mobile team since mid-2010, and was a driving force behind the development of its iPhone and iPad apps during preparations for the launch of the NYT digital subscriptions plan earlier this year.

Building Web Applications with MongoDB
Monday, November 21st from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm.

In this half-day workshop, a MongoDB developer will present the fundamental principles of MongoDB, how to set up and interact with the database, and what to consider when building applications using a document-based data model. This workshop will cover how to install and configure MongoDB, basic administration via MongoDB's JavaScript console, how the MongoDB drivers work, and how to use them to build applications, data modeling with MongoDB documents, unique database features, including capped collections, large file storage, and atomic updates.

Community Management: A Full-Day Workshop
Thursday, December 1st from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm.

Ideal for startups looking to jumpstart their community strategy, this hands-on workshop will provide strategies for branding, content creation, and content distribution. It will kick off with guidelines for defining your community, and highlight metrics available for measuring your effort's success. Receive hands-on help, and learn what success looks like through best practices and case studies.
