Most religions teach the concept there is some kind of life after death. For example, eternal life in heaven, or reincarnation. Science on the other hand has considered this to be low on the probability scale.
But now, some scientists and engineers claim to have come up with a debatable concept called transhumanism that questions mortality. Transhumanism is a movement and belief system that advocates for the use of technology to enhance human cognition and bodily function, surpassing current biological limitations. It is characterized by a set of shared core values and the belief that these values can be pursued through the application of technology. They say that if life after death doesn’t exist naturally, maybe it can be engineered through A.I, robotics or nanotechnology. Scientists and theologians have debatable ideas about immortality for years.
In our program, Piers Morgan moderates a debate between neurosurgeon Dr Michael Egnor, and experimental philosopher and skeptic Dr Michael Shermer on the concept of transhumanism to achieve immortality and consciousness after death.
