Jacques Mayol and Enzo Molinari have known each other since childhood in the 1960s. They grew up together in Greece and have always shared a passion for the sea. But following the death of Jacques’s father in an accident while diving, he returned to France. Twenty years have passed, but the rivalry between the two men still exists. The No Limit Freediving World Championship in Taormina, Sicily, in the late 1980s will be an opportunity for the two men to reunite and explore a world that no one knows as well as they do.
At heart, “The Big Blue” is a simple, innocuous story about a lifelong rivalry between two men who dive for depth records and an expression of a profound love of the sea. – The Los Angeles Times

“Misericorde” is film noir with the lights turned on. Even when its characters are working your nerves, it tickles. Guiraudie is playing those nerves like a harp. – New York TimesWatch the trailer with English Subtitles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNmck4hu294
