We will also talk about how to make the best of whatever camera and lens you have. And, of course, we will spend some time on how to go about capturing interesting shots of birds, both in flight and perched.

See you there...
- Wildlife and Botanical Photography at the Crow's Nest Research Center (CNRC)400 Marlborough Point Rd, Stafford, VA
The Crow's Nest Research Center (CNRC) has graciously permitted our group access to their facility for a MeetUp Photography Event. The CNRC is a non-profit organization dedicated to conservation, wetlands research, and environmental education. Located on the eastern shores of Stafford County lies 132 acres of managed woodlands and meadows having several trails, a pond and several viewing stations. Their site map illustrates trails throughout the Center. The general area is known for its offerings of scenic walks, nature and wildlife photography.
Our Event will be along the trails in recommended groups of 2 or more people, for safety purposes, but taking pictures along the trails.
The CNRC is open all day year around with prior permission. There are no fees for vehicle parking.
You may bring any lens, but a long focal length or a telephoto zoom lens would be very useful. A circular polarizing filter will help enhance color richness. We will exercise our photography skills such as high speed photography of wildlife and capturing more intimate scenes potentially using focus shift shooting, aka focus stacking, of plants and insects.
It will most likely be very warm, so please drinking water and dress accordingly. Consider bringing bug repellent, mosquito netting hat, sun screen, etc. No steep hiking is required, but I would recommend that you wear shoes or boots with good traction.
If it looks like steady rain or if highway conditions are poor, because of the weather, this Meetup may be rescheduled. An alternate date is tentatively 31 July.
