Easy-paced, guided hike for seniors, but open to all ages. Join a park interpreter for an eye-opening walk. Discover the hidden themes of natural and cultural history along the trail. Modest slope, 1-2 miles. Dress for the weather, bring water, and snack. Hiking poles and traction footwear recommended. No registration needed.

Enjoy stories of renowned painter Thomas Cole and his work shaped by the landscape, community, and change on the Connecticut River. This lecture highlights Jonathon’s newest work, The Oxbow Since Thomas Cole: The Story of a Landscape, a Painting and a Community. Free. No registration required. For ages 12 and up. Meet inside the Summit House.

Birding with a Biologist

Join DCR Wildlife Biologist, Halie Larkin, on an hour-long birding excursion, up to 1-mile around the Summit House grounds on easy trails. Visit birding locations, spot migrating species like warblers. Hear from researchers how and why they study bird behavior. Binoculars are recommended. Limited binoculars are available to borrow. Severe weather cancels. Open to all, but best for ages 12 and up. Meet on the Summit House Deck.
