What we’re about
Friends of Ute Pass Trails is a non-profit group of people who volunteer their time to maintain our local trails in the Green Mountain Falls area (just west of Colorado Springs). We have six work days planned for 2025 and are welcoming anyone interested in giving back to our local trail system, making new friends, learning new trail-building skills, and having fun! Work days typically run from 8 am to 1 pm followed by a free lunch. To sign up for one of our workdays please email FriendsofUtePass@gmail.com or call 719-331-3688. Children 14 years or younger must be accompanied by an adult.

Friends of Ute Pass Trails will be hosting another trail work day on July 20th. Unlike other meet-up groups, this is a two step process for sign-up. You will need to email friendsofutepass@gmail.com to sign up and then also reserve a spot on the meet-up page. I ask that you wait to do this until you are sure you can commit to the date. There is a tremendous amount of planning involved for these events, in figuring out the scope of the project, how many crew leaders are needed and matching each daily project with the skill levels of the participants. So it is important to know exactly who will be coming. In other meet-up groups it is not such a big deal to cancel at the last minute, but for this particular one it can cause some considerable scrambling!
When you email friendsofutepass@gmail.com, our president, Rocco, will ask you about your experience level (people with no trail experience are very welcome) and also what types of work you may or may not be comfortable with. He will give you the location and time to meet that day. Usually we go from 8am to 1pm and then provide you a free lunch. But the meeting time might be different, so get that from Rocco. You should bring work gloves, wear sturdy closed-toe shoes, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, water and long pants for our adventure. Please be prepared to meet some wonderful people, have a lot of fun and maybe learn something new. I was out of town for the last work day, but should be at all of the remainder this summer, so look forward to meeting you!
