What we’re about
I have created a group where everyone is welcome! We write, discover more about ourselves, and do this within a community where friendships and connection play an integral part.
I've written my entire adult life, but I discovered poetry almost seven years ago. My first book, Dancing DNA:A Collection of Poems was published in August 2023, and I am currently working on my second book. In the midst of this journey, I have tried out many different groups. They typically played out this way:
- We were there to write. Period. No talking. No connection.
- We were there to socialize. Writing was about 5 minutes. No discussion time left for writing/sharing.
- The writing group was a platform for the leader to share their work.
With these models in mind, this is a group where everyone is welcome! Whatever your writing level, you are welcome. But, it is geared a bit more towards new to intermediate writers. This will be a place where we will do three things:
WRITE (with prompts)
SHARE (opportunity to share writing)
CONNECT (building community)
Event is free to Westminster residents with a rec pass
$6 for Westminster residents
$8 for all others
