How to make new friends in this urban jungle? Simple. We are Jakarta Friends. Everyone is welcome to join the community.
We are the biggest, first, most active, and most inclusive MeetUp community in Jakarta... and we invite you to join us!
Jakarta Friends is the community to meet new people while doing unique activities in Jakarta. We eat and drink together, play board games, talk business, socialize, have potlucks, do language exchanges, explore the city by walking and culinary tours, and much more!
Together with the group Jakarta Writers (which mostly focus on storytelling) we are all about authentic connections in an uncomplicated and informal setting.

Together, we are creating an inclusive environment where everyone is welcome. This community is a convergence of people and cultures.
Over the past 3,5 years, with Jakarta Friends & Jakarta Writers we have had over 250 events with about 2,000 attendees! Everyone should always feel welcome to join disregarding from their ethnicity, nationality, religion, creed, age, language skills, gender identification, sexual orientation, background, ability, income, social status, or any other arbitrary trait.
We have a yearly membership fee to join our events. This is explained in detail in every event description. The membership fee is not expensive and gives access to all events, while guaranteeing that hosting events remains sustainable for the organisers. There's much more value to members in a yearly fee than in an event fee.
We guarantee to keep organising plenty of events and the fee is refundable if the group closes down or if there are no events for more than three months. You can attend the first event for a sneak peek price!

An important note about this community: This group welcomes everyone who genuinely wants to connect. The organisers won't tolerate any of the following behaviours:
- marketing promotions without checking with the admin first (including aggressive marketing strategies, pet trading, self-centered offers, non-relevant posts)
- negativity and blaming (including spreading false information, not helping each other, criticizing without offering a honest feedback or alternative solutions)
- harrassement, discrimination, intolerance, disrespectful behaviour
- it's important that people respect RSVP at event, and are respectful of everyone's time and efforts in organising events
- anyone who feels unsafe or unwelcome at an event is encouraged to report this to the organisers or to the Meetup help center

It's Firday night! Let's hang out and have a stroll and bite in the comfortable and accessible Citos -- Cilandak Town Square. We'll find a place to sit and enjoy the start of the weekend, and we can also explore more than one venue!
There's plenty of food options at Citos, including well-known restaurant chains like Pizza e Birra, Lawless, Mensieur Spoon, Starbucks, Paul, Imperial Kitchen, Chateraise, or unique eateries found nowhere else in Jakarta!
One Friday evenings usually they have live music, too... 🎶 and some bars might show the world cup ⚽

Find Citos on Google: https://share.google/2qDAexLDwaGSrQ522Citos is a family friendly, accessible mall on two floors, with plenty of food options, right in the heart of Cilandak. Ver accessible from the toll road or MRT, there's also a spacious parking lot in the lower ground.
HOW TO REGISTER TO THE EVENT?
To register, just click “Attend”! There are a few simple rules
- We kindly ask attendees who cannot manage to join to update RSVP at least 24 h before the event as a courtesy to other attendees and event organisers.
- You can arrive at any time after 7 PM for this one. However, I'd recomment you to be there at 7 PM sharp to gather together and have you say on where we to go and sit!
- People in the waitlist cannot attend, and are encouraged to check a few hours before the event to see if they got a spot
- 3X no-show = kicked from the group
- Late minute cancellation is unfriendly to fellow attendees, organisers, and venues, and still counts as a no-show
- Come alone or with a +1 who can join for free! Please note that attendees bringin a +1 need to make sure that the guest understand and abide to our rule of inclusivity and respect

WE HAVE A MEMBERSHIP FEE. HOW DOES IT WORK?
Our community has a membership fee that make sure we can keep organising plenty of events as we did over the past 4 years.
Membership can be paid as a yearly membership of 340k IDR valid for 365 days after payment. Pay online ahead of the event to get 10% off! Membership gives access to all events plus exclusive perks**(*)** available only to paying members.
As a first-timer, you have several options:
- Option A: Join with a promo discount for first-timers for 250k IDR/year. Get 10% if you pay online ahead of the event!
- Option B: Not sure if you want to join for a year? Join with a 50k IDR sneak peek option & pay the remaining 290k IDR at the next event
- Option C: Bundle offer to join both Jakarta Friends and Jakarta Writers for 390k IDR instead of 680k IDR. First-timers only.
All three options can be redeemed with an additional 10% discount when paid online ahead of an event.
In the past 3,5 years we have organised ~2-3 events per week (browse past event of JakFri here and of JakWri here). That is, with your membership you can attend up to 5-10 events/month!
**(*)**This is a non-exhaustive list of special events we have had for paying members only. A Give Away Birthday Celebrations with lucky draw, a Free pasta cooking (and eating 😉) workshop or a Museum visits with free guided tours.
We guarantee to keep organizing plenty of events. You will receive a full refund if the group closes down, or if there’s no event happening in three months.

We value diversity, inclusivity, respect, and authenticity. We do not tolerate harassment or discrimination of any kinds.
