I am happy to introduce our 26th session focusing titled: Dangers in Occult Practice and Protection Magick. As of now, our new meeting place is Floky La Loutre (see address for full location). However, the same warm atmosphere and vibrant community still remains to welcome you to the event and I hope you can attend! The meeting will take place on October 7 at 18:30 - 20:30.
Introduction to the topic - Many think of spiritual practice as being something that is quite safe and this would be quite true in most cases. Practices such as meditation, religious worship, and prayer are all perfectly safe. However, when one delves into the more esoteric side of occult and magical practice, the issue of safety starts becoming more noticeable. Spirit evocations / conjurations, spell work, energy work, and other esoteric practices do, for many individuals, bring risks, but NOT the risks that Hollywood and religious zealotry would have you believe. Occultists generally regard "selling your soul", being damned to hell, and other such scare tactics as mere fiction. But certain practices do bring certain risks and, like 2 sides of the same coin, such practices come with ways to protect yourself.
In this session, we will explore and come to understand the more realistic dangers that exist in occult, spiritual, and magical practice. Risks such as obsession, "bad luck", psychological problems, and energetic instabilities are among the issues that can arise. We will see, based on practical experiences and anecdotes, where these risks come from and how they can be fought against. In many cases, our own pscyhe, hubris, and fears are the source of the problem while in other cases, the origin is external. In all cases, there are always measures one can take to guarantee their safety. Protection rituals, guardian spirits, purification practices, meditation, and magical prayer are all ways to fight against these threats. In particular, we will go through the demonstration of a famous banishing ritual to highlight one such protective measure.
Our agenda for this event is as follows:
