Get Me Off the Couch (30s-40s)

When: Sunday, October 11 | Meet at 10:00 AM, walking at 10:15 AM
Where: Ferry Building (meet out front), San Francisco
Ending at: Battery Bluff Park (one-way hike)

Looking for the perfect excuse to get outside and meet some new people? Join us for a scenic one-way waterfront hike across San Francisco!

The plan:

• 10:00 AM: Meet at the Ferry Building (under the big clock tower). We'll do a quick icebreaker so you're not just walking next to strangers, but with new friends.
• 10:15 AM: Hit the trail and start walking.
• Midday: Arrive at Battery Bluff Park, settle in, grab lunch, and break bread together.

The route
We'll follow the city's best waterfront stretch: starting at the historic Ferry Building, heading along the Embarcadero past Fisherman's Wharf and Aquatic Park, then continuing along the bay through Fort Mason, the Marina Green, and the sweeping shoreline of Crissy Field. Expect Alcatraz views, sailboats on the water, and the Golden Gate Bridge growing larger with every step. It's mostly flat and easy, with plenty of photo stops along the way.

Battery Bluff Park
Our destination is one of the best viewpoints in the city. Perched above the water, Battery Bluff Park offers wide-open bay views, the Golden Gate Bridge, and plenty of space to spread out and relax. It's an ideal spot to kick back with your new hiking buddies and take in the scenery.

Lunch
Totally up to you:

• 🥪 Bring your own lunch or snacks (optional)
• 🍽️ Grab a bite at the brand-new mess hall
• 🚚 Check out the food trucks at Battery Bluff Park

What to bring

• Water and sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses)
• Comfortable walking shoes
• Layers, since the bay breeze can be chilly even on sunny days
• Optional: blanket to sit on
• Good to know: One-way hike, so plan your ride home from the park. Muni, rideshare, and carpooling with other hikers are all options.
• Moderate pace.
• Please RSVP so we know who's coming, and update your RSVP if plans change.

The holidays are better with friends. Join us for a day of smoky, fire-grilled food, cozy fireside hangouts, and good company as we celebrate everything we're thankful for.

🔖 Attendance & Waitlist
Everyone will initially be placed on the waitlist. Since this event is hosted on a friend's private rooftop, space is limited and NOT all waitlisted members will be confirmed.

✅ Priority goes to group members I've met before, had a positive experience with, and who have a good attendance history.
📍 The exact address and instructions will be shared with those who are confirmed.
💵 Once you send payment via PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, or cash to help cover food and supplies, you'll be moved to the "Going" list.

🍽️ Preliminary Friendsgiving Menu

• 🦃 Whole turkey, fired up on the grill
• 🍖 Fall-off-the-bone baby back ribs
• Marinated chicken thighs
• Hotlinks/sausages
• Grilled fresh seasonal vegetables
• Brown rice with Chinese bacon
• Pumpkin Pie
• A variety of healthier snacks
• Non-alcoholic drinks: lemon tea (hot & cold), water, soda, and coffee
• If there's something specific you want to add to the menu, feel free to bring them

🍷 This event is BYOB. I don't drink, so if you want alcohol, bring your own.
🎲 Feel free to bring a board game, or two, and music!

Schedule of Events

• 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM: Arrival, help prep & mingling (please be on time!). Everyone helps prep, cook and clean up; I can't do it all by myself. If you expect restaurant service, this event is NOT for you.
• 12:30 – 4:00 PM: Friendsgiving feast & grilling (someone pls help with grilling)
• 4:00 – 4:30 PM: Clean-up & departure

Location
A modern rooftop near 10th & Market Street, featuring:

✅ Tables & chairs
✅ Clean public bathroom access

What to Bring

• A jacket and warm layers. SF weather can get chilly, but we'll have the fireplace going!
• A grateful heart and an appetite 😄

All food will be cooked on the same grill. If you have specific dietary restrictions or sensitivities, this is NOT the right event for you.
