Corbetts above Loch Lubnaigs (Ben Ledi & Benvane) - strenuous

Details

## Details

Join Glasgow Young Walkers on a Corbett walk above Loch Lubnaig. We will follow the Steven Fallon's route to climb first Ben Ledi, then to continue on to Benvane and heading back down via the Stank Glen to the start of the walk.
· Meeting point: Parking area over bridge from A84. Open in Google Maps.
· Meeting time: 10:00 am
· Distance: 11.5 miles
· Ascent: 1250 m
· Duration: 6-7 hours
· Terrain: "Through forestry, well maintained tracks and paths lead up Ben Ledi's hillside to a cross on the summit. Along the crests towards Ben Vane, the route becomes gradually less frequented, but paths can be traced to give delightful walking and running terrain through grass and over undulating crests." The path in the Stank Glen can get boggy.

Getting there
By car: The starting point of the walk is 1 hour away by car from the city centre of Glasgow. If you can offer a lift, please add this to the comments with the number of places you have. Non drivers will be expected to contribute towards fuel costs.

Public transport:
The start point of the walk is 3 miles away from Callander. There is a train at 7:18 am from Queen Street that gets to Stirling at 07:53 am. Bus S60 leaves at 08:05 from Stance B at Stirling railway station and gets to Callander at about 08:35. There are regular buses back to Stirling from Callander in the afternoon.

Please note that number of attendees is limited to 10 people for this walk.

This is a strenuous walk with a considerable amount of ascent thus previous hillwalking experience and a good fitness are essential. Please wear suitable walking boots and bring your full waterproofs. Please also make sure that you have food and water on you.
Please note that this walk will only go ahead in good weather conditions. In case of poor weather conditions or if full winter gear would be required for the walk, there will be an alternative walk offered around Callander.

The plan is to go a pub/café in Callander after the walk.

If you have any questions on the walk, please add a comment below.
