- Beginner Munro Walk - Mayar and DrieshGlen Clova, Kirriemuir
Join Glasgow Young Walkers for a walk up Mayar and Driesh the Glen Clova Munros. As per Walkhighlands ‘A stunning ascent through picturesque Corrie Fee leads up to the extensive rolling plateau above - visiting the summits of Mayar and Driesh. With the descent on the excellent Kilbo path back to Glendoll forest at the head of Glen Clova, in summer conditions this makes a straightforward round for two Munros.’
- Meeting point: Glen Doll car park (charge), Glen Clova. Open start point in Google Maps for directions.

- Ascent: 835m
- Duration: 4.5- 5.5 hours
- Terrain: Good path to back of Corrie Fee, then pathless section over moorland, rough path to Driesh - navigation aided by fence posts, descent on rough path.
Getting there
By car: The starting point of the walk is 2 and a half hours by car from the city centre of Glasgow. Drivers are needed for this walk! If you can offer a lift, please add this to the comments with the number of places you have. Non drivers will be expected to contribute towards fuel costsPlease note that number of attendees is limited to 10 people for this walk.
This is a moderate hill walk which is suitable for beginner hillwalkers with reasonable fitness level. Please wear suitable walking boots and bring your full waterproofs as well as plenty of layers with you. Please also make sure that have plenty of food and water ( minimum 2 litres) on you.
Please note that this walk will only go ahead in reasonable weather conditions. If the weather is not good enough in this area or if no-one volunteers to car share, an alternative walk will be offered.

- Weekend away with An Sgarsoch & Càrn an Fhidhleir Munro walk and wild campingCairngorms National Park, Scotland
Join Glasgow Young Walkers on a weekend away with wild camping in a very remote location in the Cairngorms and climb An Sgarsoch and Càrn an Fhidhleir. According to Walkhighlands : “These two rounded, featureless hills are given distinction by their remoteness. In the heart of the wild country between the main Cairngorms and the Atholl ranges, few Munros can match these peaks for the feeling of solitude or open space.”

The plan is to meet at the Linn of Dee car park at 6 pm on Friday, 5 July and walk either to the Ruighe Ealasaid ( ~4.5 miles) or further along track to the Geldie Lodge (~ 8 miles) and camp there. We will head to the hills from the campsite on Saturday then wild camp for another night and walk out on early Sunday morning.- Meeting point: Linn of Dee car park (https://www.google.com/maps/search/56.98940,-3.54350/ )

- Terrain: Excellent tracks and path on approach. The hills themselves are rounded but with pathless heather and peat-bog at times. The walk involves river crossings as well.
Getting there
By car: The starting point of the walk is approximately 2.5 hours by car from the city centre of Glasgow. Drivers are wanted for this walk! If you can offer a lift, please add this to the comments with the number of places you have.
By public transport: There is a train from Glasgow Queen Street to Aberdeen at 08:41 am that arrives in Aberdeen at 11:27 am. Bus nr. 201 leaves from Union Square Bus station in Aberdeen to Ballater/Braemar at 12:30 ( it’s a 2 hour journey) The start of the walk is roughly 6.6 miles from Braemar
Please note that number of attendees is limited to 8 people for this walk.
This is a strenuous and very remote hillwalk which is suitable for experienced hillwalkers with reasonable fitness level. Please wear suitable walking boots and bring your full waterproofs as well as layers with you. Please also make sure that have enough food and snacks on you for the weekend. We will be close to rivers and burns, so water wouldn’t be an issue (water purification tablets or a filter might be useful though).Please bring your tent ( if you are happy to share your tent, please add this to the comments), sleeping mat, sleeping bag, trowl and head torch with you. As the midges will be out in force, midge repellent/net will be essential as well. If you have a stove, please bring that with you as well.
