(MS) Yellow Branch Falls, Rail Trail, Issaqueena Falls, and Stumphouse Tunnel

Meet at Carpool location at 8:45 to leave at 9 or Meet at the Yellow Branch Parking lot at 9:55 (2911-3023 Highlands Hwy, Walhalla, SC 29691) to start hike a little after 10 when Greenville group arrives.

This hike starts with a pleasant ramble to Yellow Branch Falls a 50-foot cascade in a typical mixed hardwood forest. There are several small creek crossings - but little chance that you should get your feet wet. But always good to pack a dry pair of socks.

We will drive across the road to the Stumphouse Tunnel Area - $5 Parking Fee per car (bring exact change).
From the top of Issaqueena Falls, we will hike the Rail Trail to the Middle Tunnel (You are able to crawl into this tunnel and stand up inside) and on to the third tunnel- Saddleback Tunnel (which is not accessible due to water). We will return by the same route to view Issaqueena falls and then we will enter Stumphouse Tunnel and hike to the inter-gate via flashlights. The old train tunnel is 25 feet high, 17 feet wide, and although it was not completed, it extends 1,617 feet into the mountain. Bring your flashlight.

This hike will be conducted at a Moderate pace.
