M: 6 EG: 1424' Rating: MS
Hike Leader: Candi Samples 803.493.0564
Join us as we hike the newest trail at Table Rock State Park! This hike starts beside the nature center and goes through woods, across streams, and UP new trail to the top of Stool mountain (lower than the Table) where we will enjoy views. Along the way, we will see the lasting effects of Helene and the recent Spring fire, and we will marvel at the forest's ability to recover. The hike should take about 3.5 hours. Wear long pants, bring snacks and water, and pack a hiking pole. Most of the elevation for the hike is in the last 2 miles up.
Hikers needing carpools can arrange those in the comments.
Pace: moderate ( almost 2.0 mph uphill, slightly faster coming back down)
Group members may decide to add Carrick Creek trail to the hike agenda afterward. Also, Music on the Mountain - bluegrass - will take place in Gaines Lodge from 2:00 - 6:00, so if that is of interest, make plans to attend.
