On behalf of the GNHA Hiking Club, we’re thrilled you’re interested in joining us on the trails! Here’s some important information to review before your first hike:

GETTING STARTED

- DOWNLOAD THE MEETUP.COM APP: We recommend adding it to your smartphone so you can receive instant updates about hike changes or cancellations.
- CONTACT THE HIKE LEADER: If you're new to hiking or our group, please reach out to the hike leader before your first hike. They can help determine if the hike suits your fitness level and provide an introduction to our club.

HIKE RATING & RECOMMENDATIONS

- FITNESS REQUIREMENTS: To join hikes rated S (Strenuous), VS (Very Strenuous), or VVS (Very, Very Strenuous), you should already be an active hiker, backpacker, runner, or jogger.
- PACE: Our hikes are conducted at a moderate pace—no strolling. If unsure, start with easier hikes held on Sunday afternoons or Saturday mornings at 10:00 AM.
- HIKE RATINGS: Visit our main website (www.greenvillehiking.com) for a detailed explanation of our hike rating system, from Easy to VVS.

TIPS FOR A GREAT HIKE

- BRING WATER water and wear appropriate footwear.
- BE PUNCTUAL—hikes start at the designated time, and hikers will carpool or drive directly to the trailhead.
- NO PETS: Unfortunately, pets aren’t allowed on club hikes. Children are welcome but must be accompanied by a parent and able to keep pace.

MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

- Join us as a Guest Hiker on a trial basis!
- Annual dues are $10.00, with memberships paid after October 1st covering the following year.
