The Despeauxrados, (VS): Turkey Pen Gap - Pisgah Forest

We'll start at the Turkey pen Gap trailhead in Pisgah and hike up Mullinax Gap trail to Squirrel Gap trail and down Cantrell Creek to South Mills River and loop back to the trailhead. With luck, we'll see an abundance of pink Ladyslippers in blossom. They haven't disappointed in the past. About 12 miles, 1,800 EG. Leave Publix at 8:00 or meet at Pisgah Taco Bell, on Hwy 280 at intersection with Hwy 276 and Hwy 64, at 9:00.

Note: Car with high ground clearance necessary to get into trailhead. The road into the trailhead is a bit rough, so higher ground clearance cars best.

This group meets Wed at University Square Shopping Center. The hikes are scheduled 1 to 4 weeks in advance and target hikes which are 10 miles long and climb 2000 ft. We hike at approx. 2.5 MPH, faster or slower depending on terrain.
