This event is a member's recommendation spanning a whole weekend in October, opening from 10-4 each day, and we have proposed an opportunity to visit on the Saturday (or both if you tend to eat a lot).

The East Midland Food Festival has been going for 21 years and is a showcase of food from across the East Midlands and beyond. All undercover. In 2018 the New York Times listed it as one of the 5 most interesting festivals in the world.

Famed for its artisan producers of cheese, pies, charcuterie, chocolate and all sorts of goodies, the festival is one of the largest UK regional food festivals. A number of them offer tasters to tempt you to buy. The festival also boasts and array of drink producers from cider and beer to the strong spirits such as artisan gin and whisky. Also workshops, recipes, and live entertainment. All stands are under cover and so accessible whatever the weather.

Tickets
Only £7 per person in advance and/or on the gate. On the gate is fine, as advance tickets aren't on sale yet.

Location
Livestock Market, Scalford Road, Melton Mowbray. LE13 1JY

Travel
Direct hourly trains run from Birmingham to Melton Mowbray via Leicester. The 08.22 from New Street, catching the 16:32 return (costing £22) seems the logical option (subject to timetable changes, check via thetrainline.com). Alternatively, the road journey and parking is not onerous.
