Country Walk: Sandon Park & Milwich: The Sequel

After a much-loved winter walk in the heart of Staffordshire, we return for a splendid different route covering some old but plenty of new features. We explore the remote scenic area that is virtually free of any roads around Historic Sandon Park and Beacon Bank which is clustered with moats, copses, reservoirs, stone circles and more.

Logistics:
Meet: Arrive 10:25, for prompt start within 10-15 minutes.
Distance: Around 10 miles
Start Point: Village Hall Car park, Allways Close, Milwich, ST18 0EG
Travel: Either via M6 J14 and Stafford, or A51 via Lichfield and Rugeley, an easy drive of under an hour for most of us.
Parking: Village Hall carpark (free) or Allways Close (side road)
Terrain: Rural and remote countryside, gently undulating, with plenty of good views, and a short stretch aside the Trent & Mersey canal.
Refreshments: Picnic stop, and probable pub stop (just before half way) and pub stop in Milwich at the end.
Bring: Waterproofs & Refreshments & Good walking footwear, and clothing to match the weather.
Guests: Under 16s & dogs (under control) may attend as guests.

As with any outdoor activity, there is some inherent risk. Whilst we aim to avoid unnecessary risks, participants should take all reasonable precautions themselves. A suitable pace for the walk will be determined by the walk leader, which others must observe by keeping in visible distance, not forging ahead or lagging behind. Those attending are totally responsible for their own safety. You must be comfortable walking the specified distance in order to attend please.

Places are not unlimited, so withdrawing in the last 24 hours is not allowed. Attendances shouldn't be compromised by ghosting (no-shows, late withdrawals) so reliable attendees will take priority in future.
