MP Heritage Special - Omkareshwar, Maheshwar, Mandu, Indore and Ujjain
This is a cross post from GHAC Travel & Leisure Details Heritage, Cultural and Architectural Special - Omkareshwar, Maheshwar, Mandu, Indore and Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh. Tentative Itinerary: 13th November 2018: Take the morning flight to Indore. Arrive Indore at 06.20 hrs, get into hired vehicle at airport and proceed to Omkareshwar. Upon arrival check in to Hotel. Take holy bath at Narmada River and visit Omkara Mandata and Mamaleshwar Jyothirling and other important places, attend Evening aarti at Narmada River and stay in Omkareshwar. 14th November 2018: Morning darshan of temples (if interested) after breakfast leave for Mandu via Maheshwar. At Maheshwar visit Maheshwar Fort, Raja Rajeshwari temple, shopping for famous Maheshwari Sarees, Boating at River Narmada and proceed to Mandu. Upon arrival check into hotel. Visit Jahaz Mahal, Hindola Mahal, Ashraf Mahal, Hoshang Shah Tombs, Jama Majid, Ram Temple. Stay in Mandu. 15th November 2018: After breakfast visit Baj Bahadur Palace and Rani Roopmati Pavilion and proceed to Ujjain via Indore. Visit Bada Ganesh temple, Rajwada, Kanch Ka Mandir, Sarafa Bazar and proceed to Ujjain. Stay in Ujjain. 16th November 2018: Early morning attend Basmaarthi at Mahakaleshwar Temple. After breakfast Darshan of Mahakaal, Harasiddhi Matha (Shakti Peeth), Gadkalika, Baratari Caves, Ram ghat, Kala Bhairav Temple, Mangalnath, Sandipani Ashram, Gopal Mandir, Veda Shala and proceed to Indore airport to take the flight back to Hyderabad. Description of the important places: Omkareshwar: One of the 12 jyotirlingas is situated on an OM Shaped island named Mandhata or Shivpuri in the river Narmada. Maheshwar Fort -a massive Fort stands on a hill overlooking the river Narmada on the South and the modern town of Maheshwar on the north. Rani Ahilyabai Holkar rebuilt the fort to what we see it today. Maheshwari Sarees: Introduced into Maheshwar 250 years ago by Rani Ahilyabai, the cotton sarees are renowned throughout India for their unique weave. Mandu town is a celebration in stone of the life and joy of the love of the poet-prince Baz Bahadur for his beautiful consort, Rani Roopmati. This fort town is situated at an altitude of 2000 feet. The structures here are architectural gems from which the builders of Taj Mahal drew their inspiration. Jahaz Mahal: This 120 metre long ‘ship palace’ build between two artificial lakes Munj Talao and Kapur Talao is an elegant two-storeyed palace. Hindola Mahal: It is an audience hall which derives the name ‘Swinging Palace’ due to its sloping sidewalls. Jami Masjid a huge structure inspired by the great mosque of Damascus. Ashrafi mahal: This ‘palace of gold coins’ faces the Jami Masjid and was conceived as a madarasa for young boys. Hoshang Shah’s Tomb: India’s first marble edifice is one of the most elegant examples of the Afghan Architecture. Indore is the largest city in Madhya Pradesh. Rajwada is a Palace built in 1749 by Malhar Rao Holkar. This Mammoth seven storeyed palace is a combination of the Maratha, Mughal and French architectural styles. Nearby is the Kanch Mandir (Glass Building housing paintings and murals all made of glass). Bada Ganesh is supposed to be the largest Ganesha in the world measuring 8 m. Ujjain is a temple town situated on the banks of river Shipra. We would be visiting Mahakaleshwar Temple – one of the Jyotirlingas. Ved shala is an observatory built in the 17th Century . Cost: Rs. 18500/- (includes Hyd – Indore-Hyd flight tickets), Local transport in hired vehicle, Accommodation, food and all entry fees. Personal Expenses are not included. * Great Hyderabad Adventure Club - GHAC is the Trekking and Adventure Club of Hyderabad that caters to Hiking, Trekking Adventure and Outdoor Adventure Activities all over India. we also conduct Bird Watching and Adventure sports like Bouldering, Rock climbing, Rappelling, Paragliding and White Water Rafting.

GHAC is registered with Govt of India as a Not for Profit Adventure Club and is affiliated to the Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF). The Club is open to all and run by trained and experienced professionals and volunteers.

GHAC has been mentioned into the Limca Books of records -2013. The club is growing and is the most active adventure club in India by the sheer number of adventure activities the club does all round the year

* The Club Membership is free and open to everyone above 18 years. Young members above 13 years may participate with parental consent. Children above 6 and upto 12 years may participate along with parents only.

* Safety is priority for us - Our Outdoor Leaders are trained and certified in their respective fields and know first aid and emergency handling. They have significant experience with outdoor activities and work very hard to make each event a safe and enjoyable experience.
