On the last Sunday of every September the Greyhounds of New York City (find us on Facebook) coordinates the annual Great Global Greyhound Walk in Central Park, NYC, to help promote breed awareness for Greyhounds, Greyhound crosses (Greyhound mixed breed) and Galgos (also known as the Spanish Greyhound). THE EVENT IS FOR SIGHTHOUNDS ONLY.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS NOT AN ALL DOG MEETUP. Open only to Greyhounds, and other sighthounds (includes Galgos and Greyhound crosses, Iggies, Whippets and more), and other hounds that are part of a Greyhound family. All dogs must be leashed and muzzles are suggested for pups that are reactive to or unpredictable around other breeds or large groups of dogs. CONTACT: Ann Marie - 917-336-9454. Call if you get lost.

Great Global Greyhound Walk in Central Park Near Wollman Rink

Our goal is to make your experience as easy, informative, and enjoyable as possible while celebrating Greyhounds, Galgos, and other sighthounds with fellow enthusiasts from across the Metro New York City area.
We look forward to welcoming you on Sunday, September 27, 2026, from 10am to 1pm for a memorable day of community, friendship, and fun in the heart of New York City!
The Great Global Greyhound Walk (GGGW) is an international day of celebration and awareness, with Greyhound and sighthound lovers gathering around the world to showcase what wonderful companions these amazing dogs truly are. Whether you're a longtime adopter, a new sighthound family, or simply curious to learn more, we'd love to have you join us.
Event Details
Join Greyhounds of NYC for a bring-your-own picnic and a 2/3rds mile walk through beautiful Central Park, with an optional 1/3rd mile shorter route.Who's Welcome?
This event is for:
- Greyhounds
- Galgos
- Greyhound mixes
- Other sighthounds, including Italian Greyhounds, Whippets, Salukis, Podencos, Borzoi, Silken Windhounds, and more
- Other family dogs accompanying a Greyhound or sighthound household
Please note: this is not an all dog breed event.
For everyone's safety and enjoyment, attending dogs must be friendly with both people and other dogs and must be leashed at all times. No long leads or retractable leads, please. Your pup must be in your control on a short lead at all times.

Bring your imagination—and your pup! Wear your favorite mythical, magical, or fantastical accessories.
The first 100 pups will receive a special treat goodie bag.
Dog parents can enter to win a $100 Chewy gift card. You get one raffle ticket for every sighthound in attendance.
