Most people say they want to make games but rarely do it. Why? Programming a game from scratch in code can be slow, tedious work and requires a lot of knowledge. Finding an experienced programmer to make your games for you is also time consuming and costly.

This class is a continuation of the Make Video Games! beginner class, using Construct 2 to develop HTML5 games. It is setup for both intermediate students (those who have taken the beginner level), and for advanced students (those who have taken the intermediate class or already have a game they want to get help working on).

When you complete this class

• You will learn many advanced features of Construct 2 and how publish/deploy your game to desktop, web, and app stores.

• You will get expert help on any feature of Construct 2 to help you further develop any existing game you might have as well as guidance and best practices. I'll share cool techniques!

This class will use Construct 2, a tool built for rapidly making games without any having to type code or learn some complex system. I've used this to create game prototypes at multiple game jams, OFTEN IN JUST A FEW HOURS! The output will be HTML5 that is playable in modern browsers and mobile phones. You can text someone a link to your game and they can simply click to play it!

Prerequisites

Requires a Windows PC running the free or better version of Construct 2.

Devin Becker is a long time amateur game designer an programmer. Having made and sold his first game in high school made in QBasic on DOS 3.0 he learned the magic of being able to make your game designs yourself as easily as possible. Seeing the web and mobile as the future platform to play games on he moved from professional web app development into a full time career as a professional game developer.

As a veteran of many game jams and co-organizer of the long running Sacramento Game Developers meetup he is an expert in going from idea to a playable game prototype at blazing speeds in a way that's fun, not work.

During his time at Apple Support he created and taught the training course for both the iLife and iWork suite of applications, even mid-release.

He co-hosts a very popular podcast on game design, Exploring Design on Game Developers Radio and runs an online game design school, Ludology U.
