Notice: Members must have a Mac or PC (Tablets, iPads, and other mobile browsing devises will not work) To run Autodesk Fusion effectively for general use requires a balanced mid-range setup featuring a modern quad-core or 6-core processor, 8GB to 32GB of RAM, and an average graphics card with dedicated GPU of 4GB to 8GB VRAM.
1st Week Introduction to Fusion and preparation of software sketch tools.
In the first week we will get together and create either Student accounts and/or Hobby accounts for Autodesk Fusion (Formally Fusion 360), and get started with basic software interface navigation and getting started with the sketch tools. The first sketch that we will generate will be the starting point to explore all of Fusion’s 3D tools.
2nd Week Introduction to Fusion 3D tools.
In the second week we will begin to utilize our sketch generated in week one to allow members the ability to use the 3D tools. “Extrude” is going to be the first tool we explore and begin the 3D modeling experience along with all the options and variations that go into making our first 3D object.
3rd Week Fusion 3D tools continued.
In the third week we will continue to utilize our sketch generated in week one, this time to explore more 3D tools that can expand your ability to modify objects in Fusion’s 3d space. The focus in week three will be to explore the “Revolve” and “Sweep” tools. This will be our final day exploring the 3D tools. From here on out we will be taking our models and preparing them for manufacture environments.
4th Week Reverse Engineering
In the fourth week we will introduce the concept of reverse engineering (don’t freak out), It simply means that we will take an existing physical object and understand its geometry to help us use a variety of physical tools like measuring tapes, calipers, other equipment to recreate the object using our current understanding of 3D design tools.
5th Week Reverse Engineering continued
In the fifth week we will explore more reverse engineering tools this time with digital tools rather than physical ones such as reference pictures that we can use to turn our photographs into live 3D objects, Vector files from other platforms or services that we can use to improve the design process, and finally adding decals and aesthetic details that fit your design needs.
6th Week Free work day
In the sixth week we will use this free time to catch up on previously taught 3D tools and/or give members a free work day to create anything they would like with what they have learned so far. The instructor will be there to simply answer questions and help out members with their own custom creations or catch up on course projects. Week Modifying our 3D designs and timeline
7th Week Modifying our 3D designs and timeline
In the seventh week we will explore all possible ways to modify our design. Once an object is made there is a large list of possible tools that can take your object in any direction and optimize your models. Modification is important to make quick changes to your models without having to do or undo entire operations and even prepare your models for the manufacturing experience more effectively.
8th Week Manufacturing through 3D printing
In the eighth week we will exclusively focus on getting your models prepared for the 3D printing experience, Made Studio has a large variety of 3D printers, print tools, and consumables available that we will explore to tie up all eight weeks of hard work into your very first fully custom 3D print. Once the model is exported we will move on to the Bambu Studio software and send the files directly to the printers available. (Note, you will be given up to 200 grams of 3D print filament for your project)
