Elizabeth River Park to Paradise Creek Nature Park Jordan Bridge Hike 5-6 Miles
Details
You won’t find an experience like this anywhere else in Hampton Roads. From atop the South Norfolk Jordan Bridge (also known as SNJB), you can see for miles in every direction. Wisps of clouds float past Chesapeake, Norfolk and Portsmouth. For a moment, you forget the Elizabeth River—which stretches as far as the eye can see—lies a whopping 169 feet below. The view from beneath is breathtaking. The walk across is a pure thrill.
We'll leave from the Elizabeth River Park and hike over the bridge to Paradise Creek Nature Park https://elizabethriver.org/paradise-creek-nature-park/. Paradise Creek is 40 acres of reclaimed industrial land laced with two miles of trails with more opportunities to see the river and the wildlife that depend on it.
In our two hours we will cover 5-6 miles. It's mostly city sidewalk until we reach the park. There is a port-a-potty at the park if the building is not open. If you are considering driving across the bridge to meet at the the starting point be aware that there is a toll. There are alternative free routes.
