About us
Beginning June 1st, we will be transitioning away from Meetup as our primary platform. While Meetup has been a great place to connect, we’re excited to move to a space that allows us to offer more opportunities, better communication, and an enhanced overall experience for our community.
Going forward, all events, updates, and group activities will be hosted on our website: https://www.hcphotogroup.org/
We encourage you to visit the site, explore upcoming events, and stay connected with everything we have planned. There’s much more to come, and we’re excited to continue growing together in this next chapter.

The Magic of the Drop - Monthly Meeting
12 Medstar Blvd, Bel Air, MD, USJoin the HCPG to see the Magic of the Drop
Freezing a single moment of a water droplet's journey reveals a hidden world of liquid architecture and mesmerizing symmetry. Whether you are a macro enthusiast or a curious beginner, water drop photography offers a unique way to turn a common subject into high-speed art.The Magic of the Drop
Water drop photography is a specialized subgenre of high-speed photography that focuses on capturing the impact and interaction of droplets. It transforms the mundane act of a dripping tap into a vibrant display of:- Sculptural Form: Capturing the precise millisecond when two drops collide to form crowns, mushrooms, or abstract umbrellas.
- Vibrant Colour: By using food colouring, tinted gels on flashes, or colourful backdrops, photographers can create psychedelic, dream-like scenes.
- Refraction & Reflection: A single droplet acts as a natural lens, often refracting a miniature image of a flower or object placed behind it.
Precision Control: Success relies on manual camera settings—typically small apertures (f/11–f/16) and short flash durations—to ensure every ripple is razor-sharp.
