Informational Action Alert on state parks
Governor Brown will soon make a decision on whether or not to sign legislation sitting on his desk Assembly Bill 2150. This bill would make innovative changes to state parks, helping to make California State Parks to become more efficient. If signed by Governor Brown AB 2150 would: Address the State Parks deferred maintenance backlog (estimated to be over 1.3 billion) by requiring the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) to develop a priority list for deferred state park maintenance projects. Improve the relevancy of state parks for undeserved communities by renaming the existing Division of External Affairs in DPR to the Division of Community Initiatives and Park Access and adding to their responsibilities the role of developing partnerships and coalitions that would increase state park access. Prohibit DPR from closing or proposing to close a state park in[masked] fiscal year.
